This was suggested as a theme ride from one of my riders.

Who has some ideas for me.... both artists and/or songs 8)

So far I have Annie Lennox and Melissa Etheridge (ok, I'll admit it, I'm a Rock light weight)

Pat Bennitar (sp?) has a cool extended mix of "We Belong" that I've used and had great feedback. For newer rock you can't forget Evanescence!

If you want a great all-female rock band try The Donnas.

Or, going back a few years, there's L7.

And I'll second the nomination for Joan Jett.

Have you heard of Anastasia? Her song "Boom (World Cup 2002)" is amazing!

Celeda does a great song with Danny Tenaglia called "Be Yourself". Back in the good old Audio Galaxy days, I was fortunate that someone dropped it onto my hard drive. My classes love it!

Another song that I've used recently that went over really well is "We've Got the Beat" by the Go-Gos.

I thought it was "women who ROCK"..... not women who Folk, Blues, Gospel, Rap, Pop, Alternative, Hip-Hop, Scat....

Joan Jett for sure. Pat Benetar.

Definitely NOT Cher.

How about Nelly Furtado, Tracy Chapman, Lida Ford, and Gwynn Stefani?

Wasn't there an all female 80's hair band called Vixxen?

Aretha Franklin...wow Cheeze, you really go out an a limb there.

I still use an old remix of "A rose is still a rose" because she just has the most overpowering voice probably in pop/soul music history. In most of the VH1 poles Aretha usually finishes either 1 or 2 to Madonna as female vocalist.
