Any word on wether the forum is ever going to come up on Mad Dog's site ?

Also, I was wondering what the consensus was for the S.P.I.N. membeship renewal has been lately ?

It seems that Mad Dogs appeal has lost a little luster of late.

wouldn't renew my Spin membership if they gave me 14 water bottles!!! will only renew my cert cause I have to....would rather go to an IDEA conference
and listen to Jay Blahnik (SP?) than set foot at another WSSC...oh yeah and my cycling gear is definitely changing....call me bitter....

i did not like the cd this year at all.
the cd the year before was great.
i can't really use a long sleeve tshirt.
the bandana was nice though.
i renew basically to get the cd
and the blackboard. as i said before , i didn't like the cd at all.
the music sounds very amateurish imho.
there was one year in which they sent me a long sleeve , hooded , pocketed sweatshirt , NOW that was a great SpinMembership year !

I didn't renew my SPIN membership this year. The $99 is not worth it. The blackboard newsletter is not as good as it use to be. I'm a little disappointed. Oh well.

Labo,

No water bottle included in this years spin membership. And I totally agree about this years cd. Usually thare are a few songs I would use. This year, music was so bad I gave mine away.

Yeah that $99 is supposed to cover monthly Blackboards, which I didn't see any from Dec-Feb. So when I renewed my membership I complained that I hadn't rec'd them and would like to be sent back issues (that's only fair, right?). That was over a month ago - yet to see those missing Blackboards. We shell out a lot of money for this, but for what, really? :?

Didn't renew. Not worth the money to me.

I thought this year's CD was one of the best. The $99 is pretty steep price to pay but at least they added more benefits.

I, too, have been disappointed with the last few issues of Blackboard. Most of the "gifts" are redundant. I like the CD, but will not use as-is. I have already done most of the workshops and I have plenty of "Spinning" attire.
I basically renewed only for a discount to my first WSSC (Miami).
Now, neither Lucinda nor Johnny will be in Miami. Had I known that, I would have not registered for Miami and I would not have renewed my SPIN membership. As it is, I am stuck with my plane tickets -- and my SPIN membership. :(

Johnny is not in Miami?

He had a ride scheduled for Friday night?

spinnster10

"Had" is correct. The Friday evening ride in Miami will now be conducted by a group of MIs.
If you are going, you will get notification in your conference package shortly.

I'm having trouble believing that JohnnyG wouldn't be at the only annual convention of instructors unless he had a very personal reason not to go.

Sorry AC,

All the JGSI say so ...

I'm NOT cert thru JG ... but all I can feel right now is a kind of relief. At least I don't feel abandoned.

he has a very personal reason...... I happen to like training and road riding with JG i dont feel abandoned at all this is life and we move on however The folks at MDA have an obligation to stop advertizing a JG ride if in fact it is already decided that it is not going to happen.

If JG is not attending, WSSC is just another fitness conference, and a pricy one, too.
@Spinnster10, are you SURE???

@Mandi: This has nothing to do with feeling left alone, it has something to do with with the Spinning philosophie. which is (was???) the difference between Spinning and the other indoor cycling programs. JG is the soul and the creator of this program and the origin of the beauty which lies within. If you are no JGSI chances are high you never went beyond the surface and missed the better part...

Although I have not yet received my packet, my friend did --
No Johnny.

If I get at least 50% of the workshops that I requested, I will still attend. Otherwise, I may be caught cruising the roads of Florida in a convertible with the top down . . .

Some of you may want to check another posting in this section titled "WSSC and Blackboard."

It does make me raise my eyebrows when the biggest attraction for the biggest program does not make it to the biggest gathering of the biggest constituent group.

Kind of disappointing also....I registered for this in January...bought hotel, room, and paid the fees.

Hi Carol . . . can't wait to see you in Miami . . . I'll have to get more specifics on using this forum. Seems I did register under my old name, but I could fill in any old name on the "username" space of the 'post a reply' and have it work.

So good to "see" you back!

He's the biggest attraction for the general group. Kind of like icing on a cake. Forum buds are the cake.

For me it's like a family reunion I want to go to. Unfortunately I get to see some of my good freinds only once or twice a year. I'll be in Miami from Wednesday through Monday. I'll be the guy wearing the Wisconsin sweatshirt. Feel free to say Hi.

Is there a birthday here or a metaphor?

I'll be the one wearing clothes from outlet stores and Wal-Mart.

Alas, once again I have to forego WSSC.

I have been wanting for so long to attend; however, my college bound son has other ideas for my extra money!

Tuition, housing, books, etc. Yikes it costs so much! Anyway, one of these years I'll make it.

Have a margahrita for me Blue and I'll be thinking of all of you....

I too waited a long time for my first WSSC last year; saving up hard; it was a complete let down; a so called 'Spinning' person ruined the whole experience for me. The only part I enjoyed was Johnny's Camp. I was completely disollusioned by the whole thing. I will not be wasting my money again!

Questions:
1) How can you have a Johnny G ride without Johnny G?
2) Why would I hand out an article on Base Training to my students in April? (see April 2004 newsletter)
3) What's up with that 10 year jersey? Are the wings a new symbol we need to be educated about?
4) Do I need STAR points so badly that I need to spend $17 answering questions that have already been asked in previous issues of the newsletter?
5) Isn't Bowflex the name of a piece of equipment? If so, how is it possible that a piece of equipment purchased Schwinn in 2001?
6) Who are all the MIs that teach at the mecca of bodybuilding? I checked their Spinning schedule and I only saw one MI name.

If I had signed up for the JohnnyG ride and then found out he was not going to be there I would be disappointed. However, I would still look forward to it with the MI's.
