Just wondering how do you reserve bikes at your facility. Where I teach, we are having problems with members fighting over bikes....some are in better condition than others. Thanks in advance for any advice/ideas.

At one facility, there's a sign-up list taped to the door about 30 minutes before the class begins. Once they get in the door...it's first come, first choice of bikes.
At the other club there's the ability to call in two hours before the class to reserve a place in class, but then it's first come, first choice of bikes.
The bikes that are in bad condition are left out of rotation at both clubs, but that's not to say that some bikes are in better shape than others.

We had the bikes numbered and it was a first come first serve basis. It works

At both the facilities that I teach at it we have a sign up list that goes out 30 minutes prior to start of class. Once a participant has signed in it is first come, first served.
We played around with the idea of reserving specific bikes at sign-up but found that to be do cumbersom to control.

If the club is maintaining their bikes properly, it shouldn't be an issue as to which bike a member rides.
Do you notice how attached people get to their favorite bike or place in the room? I feel so privileged to have the same, well-maintained bike every ride I lead. I have sympathy for the members when I take a class and get a bike with an unlevel seat (up or down - either way bums me out)!

Unfortunately, not all our bikes are well maintained like they should be. Our GM and I are working hard to keep the bikes in good riding condition, but ultimately, we need new bikes. Anyway, at our facility we put out a sign up sheet 15 minutes before class starts, there is usually a line by the entrance. Up to last week, members could reserve a bike by putting the number beside their name, WHAT A NIGHTMARE! :o We are still trying to figure out what to do to prevent our members from becoming fustrated.
Thanks for the advice!! :)

We have 29 bikes for spinning. 15 of them can be signed up via Internet. The rest of them has to be signed up at the gym, you can do that the same day as the class. Thats the easy part.
The nest step is at the class. Finding the right bike at the right spot. Our bikes are OK but we don't have clips on all of them. So if you want to be sure to find your own bike you must be there in time and stand next to the door when it gets open.
Our bikes are each on a seperate floor mat which is numbered. So you are actually signing up for a specific spot in the room (because we don't move the mats, even if we move the bikes). More important than the right bike seems to be the position in the room with regards to the fans and the speakers.
Our gym allows phone-in sign ups for all 25 bikes, beginning roughly 6 hours before the class (or previous evening for an AM class). We have 2 columns on the sign up sheet, so if its full, you go to the second column as an "alternate". I have not had any issues as of yet, but sometimes people are a little bummed they don't get their preferred saddle...
