I'm wondering if y'all have some other songs that come to mind which fit
this same format.
I do a class I call "Big Finish" (no, its not a tribut to Magnus Backstedt...)
I use songs that have an ending that is more aggressive/intense/fast than the main body of the song. I use this class as a way to help people understand certain "positions" or techniques on the bike. We spend the first part of the song "learning" or practicing the technique, and then at the "big finish" we execute. It works great for newbies to sort of isolate and focus on the different positions, while experienced riders can really set themselves up for some maximum mid-length efforts.
Here is the profile:
**********
Mandle Groove (Blue Man) Warm Up 5:50
Magic Carpet Ride (remix???) Warm Up 3:40
Paradise City (GnR) Standing Moderate Climb 6:45 (1:45 Big Finish)
Smooth Criminal (AlienAntFarm) Speed 3:30 (1:00 Big Finish)
Who'sGotMyBack? (Creed) Standing Heavy Climb 8:20 (1:30)
Suite Madame Blue (Styx) Seated Mod/Heavy Climb 6:30 (2:00)
Free Bird (Skynnard) Tempo/Flat Road 10:00 (4:30)
Then Cool Down.
*********
I use the first 30 seconds or so of each song to explain/review the technique to be performed, then do a few gradually increasing practice runs (like 15-30 seconds each) just to get the legs ready, and then get one last good recovery before the actual finishing effort.
Ideas, additions, suggestions, anyone???
