So, i've been using this iMac, downloading songs off Limewire and off cds, and they are all on my hard drive. my operating system is os9.2

My husband, generous soul that he is, gave me a iBook G4 for my birthday with an iPod!!! so no more making cds, now I can just put all my music on it, bring it in to the gym and play away...right?

Two questions:

1. Is there a way to transfer the songs off the hard drive on my iMac onto the hard drive on the iBook? can i then put those songs onto my iPod? My husband thought there might be a read problem in the kind of files.

2. Back up to what i just wrote, am i correct in that i can just bring the iPod to the gym and play a song list off of it?

thanks, i'm so excited!

The answer to question 2 should be a yes. I just got my Ipod about a month ago (generous husband also!). I had to buy a connector cable that runs into the headphone port on the Ipod and then splits into to 2 jacks that plug into the mixer/amplifier ports at the gym. I just carry the cable with me and disconnect the cd player and plug the ipod in. My original intent was to leave the cable hookup on the mixer, but all the available ports were in use.
I absolutely love my pod! I teach 3-4 spins a week and its so easy to write/rewrite profiles as needed.

I have an imac at work using OS 9.2, just bought an ibook running on OS10 and I need to do the same thing, transfer all my music from my itunes on my imac to my ibook. Haven't done it yet, but the folks over at Apple said just use firewire. If you need more specifics shoot me an email and I'll send them to you. It should be real easy.
Don't have an ipod - that's the next step. I'm soo jealous of you and your ipod! I hear they rock!
