new stereo system

I am going to be purchasing a new system and thought I'd ask if anyone had specific advice on the best set up, such as type of equipment, speakers, etc.

The best suggestion I can give you is consult with someone who sets up rooms for sound to determine the best way to set up your room. We kept monkeying around with equipment and speakers until finally we took the dimensions and photos of our room to "someone who knows what they are doing" and he set us up. Now the music sounds great and for a lot
less money than we thought we were going to have to spend.

A couple people on this forum know of the music nightmares of which I speak. Fortunately those problems are now very much behind us.
