Hey BF,
All is good on the West Shore. The wife & I took our first ride Saturday for a gruelling 45-miler. Ever been up Moores Mountain Road down by Ski Roundtop & Pinchot? No crazy stories, but we did have to dodge a few "anglers" along the Yellow Breeches Creek during the first day of trout season.
A couple hours later at Catalano's, I had two of the best tasting pints of Guinness one can imagine. Guinness....it's not just for breakfast anymore.
Sorry everyone for all the local references...but BF will know.

Hey Beth...I thought you said the strongest riders come from the east shore......Something you said about training wheels and riders from the West shore.....

 Sat, you bustin' on me?
Lager dude, it wasn't me...I never said nuttin' 'bout training wheels on the WEST shore...
Ale, meet Sat - Sat, meet Ale! You're a coupla' great guys, both of you - Sat, next time you're in town, dinner's on me on the WEST shore - and Ale, you join us and I'll buy the Yuengling/Troeg's/Guinness - whatever. We'll talk riding...dragons...wasabi...music...
Hey, Ale - funny you should ask about Moore's Mountain. I lived at the base of that mountain for a few years back in the early 80's. Hiked up there thru the woods with my dog numerous times, and watched the skiers navigate that road thru the blizzard of '83. Great ride, I'll bet! My trek was a big loop around Hummelstown/Derry Twp. - with a nice ride up to the Hotel near the end. Beautiful. All I had to dodge was a few tourists and a lot of campaign signs.
Sat, glad to hear the Dragon has unleashed his firey energy...it's about time, isn't it? So.....how'd it feel? Hotter than the wasabi?
Ride on, guys...
Beth
Hey Beth n' BeerBoy .... and Mr. Dragon Rider of the Wasabi People...
I had been bummin about my riding so far this season until this weekend. Everything felt sluggish... looked closely at my rear hub last week though, and took a listen... sounds like some serious grit in there. (I use both sets of wheels I own for Cyclocross racing in the fall)
...so I switched to my backup wheel in the back, and like magic, had a totally smooth, strong ride saturday... up to normal speeds for me (about 1MPH faster average over a 38 mile ride) and the bike rode much more sweetly... amazing. Maybe it was just me, but I don't think so. I couldn't believe how much better the bike felt. I also changed the back tire along with the wheel, and its a lighter, smoother tire. Who knows. But it sure felt nice to feel good on the bike again.
Y'all don't know the roads here, so I won't bother with routes... In general its all short rolling hills here. Emily and I have been getting out for 1 hour AM rides 2-3 days a week. She's enjoying getting out again, too. Riding with her is nice, because I forget about the MPH for once and just enjoy the road and the company.
Now that y'all are out on the roads maybe we can get this forum going a little bit!

You might want to get that thing smog tested.
