I'm looking for software to blend (mix) my music. When I download (and pay) from walmart.com (88 cents per track) they are saved as .wmf files.
Do I need to convert them to MP3 files in order to use the software? If so, is this difficult?
Which software is the best??
thanks!

Wal Mart's downloadable files can be played on windows media player 9. You have to play them once to acquire the license for the file. After that, you should be able to burn them to CD. Wal mart's site has instructions on burning, playing, etc.

There are two ways to use the files:
1. Mixmeister is a mixing program a lot of people use. It will import *WMA files directly. It's fairly easy to learn to use. You can download a trial version at http://www.mixmeister.com/Default.htm. They supposedly have a discount available to certified JGSI's for the Express 5 version, but I haven't seen documentation on this. You may have to email Mad Dog to get info.

2. A good program to extract or convert files from CD is CDEX. It's free from CDEX.com. Easy to use. Good program to have to extract from audio cds, or to convert formats if you need to.

I agree that MM 5 express is amazing. Easy and great results.
Now, has anyone found an easy way to print the playlists?
I have exported as text file, opened in excel, and now can't print on the nice card stock I have that fits into the slim CD cases.
Importing the list does not work in Roxio Label Creator.
Any ideas?
Peace,
Dorian

Thanks for the info,
I did get MM 5 and it is really easy to use. When you order it from the site, key in SPINMEMBER and you will save about $11. The best part is, you don't have to wait for the software, you can download it right away!

I like Diamond Ripper for MP3/Wav issues and LOVE Nero Platinum. Very fast and the mixes are very seet. I think the edit is a bit easier than MM. That said MM is an awesom program and did me well for a while.
