I just started outdoor cycling in January. I keep seeing the term "Switchback" and I don't know what that means. Can someone tell me what it is in outdoor cycling AND what it means in Spinning?

Thanks for helping my brain grow!

Switchbacks are when you're climbing a steep mountain, and instead of the road going straight up....it weaves back and forth in a zig-zag pattern to the top. Most times, the sharp turn is super-steep and the road can (but doesn't have to) start to level out...until the next sharp turn.

By the looks of your location...you may not find these in FLA. Go north to the Carolina's, Virginia, or come to PA and I'll show you some!

Thanks Bike4ale! Now I understand! :)

If I decide to take a roadtrip I'll give you a holler!
