dc-
Used Slither in class on Friday & it rocked! They've got some excellent music for the spin room. Have you checked out 12 Stones yet? "Fade Away" is a good one.

First of all, thanks for starting this thread. There's been a serious lack of discussion about rock music here lately.
Here's an oldie but goodie I used last week: "Are You Ready" by one-hit-wonder Pacific Gas & Electric. The long (5:50) version is an awesome climb song.

Murph you and I are going to get along just fine. Use "Joy To The World" by Three Dog Night yesterday to finish a climb. Told my students that when the music shifts gears during the refrain about two minutes in - they should have a plan for how they wanted to finish their climb.
Ah that song brings back memories...........

Browsing through some music today & came across a couple good bands:
Stabbing Westward: "What Do I Have To Do", "Breathe You In", and "Sometimes It Hurts"
Gravity Kills: "Goodbye: Mortal Kombat version" and "Down: Lords of Acid Power Remix"
If you like industrial rock w/a really strong guitar, you may like these tunes (I know I'm looking forward to tomorrow, so I can play them in class!)
Some others I've played in class recently:
Incubus - megalomaniac
franz ferdinand - take me out
the offspring - come out and play (keep em separated)
linkin park - breaking the habit (have been playing numb for months)
nickelback - feelin' way too damn good
puddle of mudd - heel over head
jet - cold hard bitch
lenny kravitz - where are we runnin'
modest mouse - float on

I found a great climb: "Ball and Biscuit" by the White Stripes. It's about 7 min. long. Great for attacks on the hill.
I'll try that--I have been using 7 nation army by white stripes for a while and people really enjoy that one. Thanks.
Another one I recently played: House of Doom by Zack Wilde and the black label society.

Another good climb by the White Stripes is "The Hardest Button To Button."
Thanks for the recommendation on "Seven Nation Army." I hadn't thought of that one!

I've been wanting to use "Ball and Biscuit" by 7 Nation Army for a while. We played "You're Pretty Good Looking" this week though & they liked.
I used 12 Stones "Crash" this week & had some excellent feedback on it too.
Another one I just plaed last week: House of Doom by Zak Wilde & Black Label Society. Gret tune.

Not a new one by any means, but a great find: "Burn" by Deep Purple. Used it for a 6 minute seated flat the other night and we loved it.

Here's another old one (from 1973 actually) but it's great for seated sprints: "Hocus Pocus" by Focus. Get the long version (6:40).

Sarah ~ I'm with you on Jethro Tull. I used to have "Locomotive Breath" on a couple tapes (remember those....what is analog?). It hasn't made its way to any of my CDs yet....and I don't know why!
I don't remember if it's been said on here...but one of the BEST finishing songs of all time is The Who's "Baba O'Riley". If you can think of the end with the violin (or fiddle...depending on where you're from), it's got a great 1-minute build. I call it an "ACCELERATED EFFORT" and have them build their effort over the last minute by adding resistance and speed....going with the music....then full throttle for the last 15-seconds at maximum effort. They love it.

OK, couldn't resist a couple more additions I uncovered this week.
"Imagine" by A Perfect Circle (yes, a cover, but a damn fine one, IMHO)
"Touche" by Godsmack (a slower ballad, believe it or not)
These songs are probably getting major air time in bigger cities, but stuck here in the armpit of the nation, it takes a while for us to get the new stuff. I'm using "Imagine" tomorrow for class, & "Touche" has came off really well as a seated climb.

I used that just today! Abso-freaking-lutely loved it. Have you tried "Sad and Lonely" by Secret Machines, or "Sooner or Later" by Breaking Benjamin, or "One of a Kind" by Breaking Point? Those were on my profile today ... YUM!
