cycling in Georgia?

In september my husband takes a business trip to Atlanta. I plan to come with him this time and we want to rent bikes and do some cycling in the aera. Anyone familiar with this aera for cycling? Do you have to travel far from Atlanta to get to mountains? Any sites available with cycling routes and recommendations?

My husband and I went to the Tour de Georgia this spring and spent some time riding in the mountains around Dalonega which is about an hour or so north of Atlanta. If you get the opportunity to take a couple days to spend here, it is fabulous. Am not sure about bike rentals, but there is some of the best riding in the country around there. Roads are in good condition-makes MI roads look like pave! Anyway we are planning a return trip next spring for early season training.
