View Full Version : cover songs
On the old spinning website, there was a thread with a link to a great website which listed cover songs (both the original artist and new one). Does anyone have that link?
I am making a disk of all cover songs, and while I have so many, I am looking for some new inspiration.
My favorites are:
Aerosmith - Come together
Guns N Roses - sympathy for the devil
alien antfarm - smooth criminal
nickelback - saturday night's alright for fighting
lemonheads - mrs. robinson
blue man group - I feel love
stone temple pilots - dancing days
rush - summertime blues
Thanks.

"Baby Please Don't Go" - Aerosmith
"Mission Impossible Theme" - Adam Clayton & Larry Mullen Jr of U2
"Do It Again" - Smashmouth
"Reelin' in the Years" - Marvelous 3
(above 2 - Steely Dan remakes on the ME, MYSELF & IRENE soundtrack)
"Boys of Summer" - The Ataris (orig Don Henley)
"Dreams (I'll Never See)" - Molly Hatchet (yeah, it's old...but done originally by the Allman Bros.....great building climb with a speed section...then back to a climb)
"Heros" - The Wallflowers (orig David Bowie)
"Baker Street" - Foo Fighters (orig Jerry Rafferty)
That's it for now. I'm sure I'll think of more. Good topic!

Hey DC,
I see you're using Rush's version of "Summertime Blues". Do you have their entire new album (EP) of covers? I just got it yesterday....AND IT ROCKS!
It's called "Feedback" and is meant as a tribute to the music that inspired Geddy, Alex & Neil. Most of it is from the mid to late sixties when they were all learning to play their instruments as teenagers, and many of these were songs they covered in their first bands. I'm a HUGE Rush fan. I like new...old....just about everything they've ever done. The tunes are kept pretty basic, paying tribute to the originals rather than adding synthesizers and too much overdubbing. Just raw classic rock from Cream, The Buffalo Springfield, The Yardbirds, The Who, etc.
I already use a lot of Rush in class and can't wait to throw some of these covers into the mix.

Beer Dude:
I had no idea! Thanks for the great tip. I only downloaded the one song. I am going to check it out asap. Summertime Blues went over really well--a great song for spinning.
Thanks again,
