I thought I read one time there was a way to take tapes and change them
to cds. Our gym is taking away our tape player, but I still have some great music I would like to use. In layman terms is there a way to do this.
I can download and burn but thats about as much as I am capable of. Any information would be of help.
Thank

I saw on the help for Roxio 6 that you can record to digital from analog sources, like cassettes, but I've never used it. Instructions are in the program's help.
You connect a cable from the tape player's output (RCA plugs) to the input of your pc's sound card (usually a 1/8" stereo plug). I expect you'd lose a little sound quality, but it may be ok for cycling classes.

Roxio works well and you can actually also clean up the quality with it. I have removed the tape hiss from my recordings and equalized the sound as well.

I am in the process of converting over 30 tapes to CD for a fellow instructor. Using a high quality cassette deck I runt he RCA cables into a Audigy NX Soundblaster device. The NX then connects to my compuer using a USB2.0 cable.
I use Nero Soundtrax to record the sound into one large wav file. Nero has a Wizard labeled 'tape to CD'. I am sure you could use Roxio 6 for this as well.
After getting the large wave file, I now switch to Roxio 6 Sound Editor to remove long silences and insert all track breaks. I prefer Roxio over Nero here as it lets me finely adjust where track breaks occur. I had too many problems with Nero here.
Next I save each track to a wav then burn to a CD.
The result is OK. The CD will have a bit of a 'muddy' sound to it. Personally I would not use one ofo these cd's in a class. I like my music crisp and clean. He has no problem with it..
