Cycling friends,
First of all, thank you for all of the wonderful advice each of you gave to me regarding the trap pain I was having. I took each piece of advice into consideration and low and behold, the mystery has been solved.

There were 2 problems:

A. My handle bars were too narrow. The bike shop fitted me for 38cm but this was not only contributing to the trap pain but I felt very constricted in my breathing. I jumped on my husband's bike (who has 40cm bars) and viola! WHAT A DIFFERENCE! So, I've switched out the bars to 40cms.

B. It was determined, using a level, that my saddle was slightly tilted downward, which was contributing to the pain I was feeling in my traps. Saddle has been leveled.

Rode 36 miles yesterday in the blazing heat and humidity (90% of it was climbing) and had no trap pain.

I am FREE! FREE I TELL YOU! I had the best ride ever--I actually had FUN this time!

Thanks again for all of you support and advice and I hope this post will help someone else out in the future who may experience the same problem.

Lori, Just let's you know that you can't always trust the guy's at the bike shop, even when put on a fit kit. Especially if it's a male trying to fit a female whether they take perfect measurements or not. We just have a unique build and we always have to adjust according to us because bikes are built for men! Even on the fit kit, my stem was so loooong! I had to get one that was shorter than even my shortest meausrements required.

I know several women that love the Terry bikes built for females. The problem with any manufacture that builds bikes for femals is that none come in a 58 cm. So, if you are tall or have tall friends like I do that need a 58 cm bike frame, you're kind of skrewed. My friend that is almost 6' had to adjust her break reach, her stem and saddle height even after being fit. Glad you figured it out. Happy riding and be safe!
