Cycling friends,
First of all, thank you for all of the wonderful advice each of you gave to me regarding the trap pain I was having. I took each piece of advice into consideration and low and behold, the mystery has been solved.
There were 2 problems:
A. My handle bars were too narrow. The bike shop fitted me for 38cm but this was not only contributing to the trap pain but I felt very constricted in my breathing. I jumped on my husband's bike (who has 40cm bars) and viola! WHAT A DIFFERENCE! So, I've switched out the bars to 40cms.
B. It was determined, using a level, that my saddle was slightly tilted downward, which was contributing to the pain I was feeling in my traps. Saddle has been leveled.
Rode 36 miles yesterday in the blazing heat and humidity (90% of it was climbing) and had no trap pain.
I am FREE! FREE I TELL YOU! I had the best ride ever--I actually had FUN this time!
Thanks again for all of you support and advice and I hope this post will help someone else out in the future who may experience the same problem.
Lori
