Jan Ullrich has all but given up on his challenge to Lance Armstrong on this year's Tour de France and admitted he is now fighting Michael Rasmussen for a place on the podium.
Looks like Jan is folding his cards for his bid on trying to unseat Lance. Apparently he is concerned about not even making the podium next Sunday. So he is licking his chops to feast on Rasmussen - not a lot of meat there to feast on if I must say.
The question is can Jan overcome a nearly 3:00 min deficit to take Rasmussen's thrid place?
This is where it's going to get really interesting because not we see the T-MO's battle shifting from Disco (although they will still be eyeing each other), to Rabobank. Now T-MO will key in on Rabobank like a pit bull.
I don't expect Basso to gain any time on Armstrong, but, who knows. Looks like the GC winner and his runner up are pretty well determined.
But it looks like the fight is for third.
Stay tuned - who knows may that hiney who got ran over in Stg 15 will interfere with Armstrong knocking him off his bike and Jan take advantage by sprinting up the mountain side putting 9 minutes into LA?
That would make for a heck of a final TT and a mad dash for the finish in Stg 20. (... and then LA woke up in a cold sweat ...)
LMAO!
