I was listening to a commentary and he said wouldn't it be better if instead of voting for who you wanted to stay, you voted for who should get kicked.

Then when the results show was on, Seacrest would say, "More people think you sucked than anyone else"!!!

Now that would be classic. I wonder if the whole way of voting will be changed anyway - giving the judges a say like they do with dancing with the stars and so you think you can dance.

ok, I just finished watching Sanjaya sing 'Besame Mucho',and when he started singing, for the first time ever, I didn't cringe! But... that was the first 30 sec in spanish, then he did the next verse in english and I went "STOP!". Then back in spanish....all was better.

So I really think there might be a market for him, just not in the english language. What makes someone sound better with just a language change? Bizarre! :?

So, it was Latin Music night...and if I just woke up I would guess that there were only 3 people singing Latin music in the world, Gloria Estefan, Gloria Estefan and J-Lo's husband,

This was almost the weakest concept night yet. Not only was Latin music night all sung en Ingles, but there wasn't a song sung from the last 3 years. Where were the Trini Lopez tunes? Lemon Tree very pretty......

Melinda and LaKisha are predictably wearing out. When you actually think Sanjaya might be able to sing, it clarifies how awful most of the 8 remaining singers are. They are making him look better by reducing the gap in suck factor. Sanjaya was actually better than Phil, Chris, and Haley, and those will be the bottom 3 this week with Chris getting a mercy killing. Haley showed enough T & A to keep going...I could be wrong but I'll put it out there now. Or...we could get a surprise in the bottom 3 (Melinda?...America might be getting tired of her).

And, I don't know what combo of meds Paula is on now (and it must be a complex concoction), but I don't think she knows which season the show is in now. I wonder what it must be like to see her when the dosages wear off. She must be kept away from all the sharp utensils.

Well at least it's getting interesting now being somewhat unpredictible. I agree - there are so many other songs - what were they thinking.

Loved Simon's comment to Haley about her lack of clothing. I for one didn't think those shorts could be any smaller. Where's the pole?

Nice commentary AC, you crack me up. :)

I fear you may be right about the Lakisha/Melinda thing. But I will say that Lakisha will go before Melinda.

In fact I'll make a finale prediction now. Melinda and Blake. Two different styles to give us a nice choice.

I agree with you, Melinda and Blake in the final two. If I was Haley, next week I'd come out in a moo moo, just to make it interesting. That rendition of "turn the beat around" was painful to watch. At least Melinda spat back a sarcastic remark at Simon, instead of the "you like me" routine.

Turn The Beat Around...

So if anyone Latino sings any song ever written, it is available on latino night? That was a Disco song from the 70's for gosh sakes. Gloria Estefan covered it with her 70's cover album, which I guess automatically turns any song ever written into a Latino song. I think she also sang the National Anthem at the Super Bowl 5 or 6 years ago, so I guess that's added to the list...El Athema de Nacional....or Jose, can you si?

I thought the purpose was to make the singers stretch into different genres...show some range. The most recent popular recording of Bessame Mucho is by Andrea Boccelli (Italian).

Could we have heard something from maybe the Gypsy Kings?...Ritchie Valens maybe?

No..that was several weeks ago...he creeped me out when he was sitting on the couch after they told him he was not eliminated and he had that scary look in his eyes.

And his singing is NOT OK...it's not as bad as you are expecting, because you're expecting him to butcher some poor composition. When it just mildly stinks, you think it's OK.

The hilight of this week...after probably the worst Sanjayaismic performance ever, Ryan and Simon go at it over when did Simon ever like Sanjaya. When did anyone ever actually like Sanjaya?

Then Chris procceds to tell Simon he's singing in a new style of vocalizing...the "nasaly" style.

Maybe the ray of hope is that Sanjaya actually goes because Phil (or Nosferatu) actually can sing country music. But, it's too much to ask.

I can't remember the last time I watched a television show. Apparently all of my "free" time is spent here now and I'm alright with that! At least now when I hear other people talk about AI I kind of have a clue what's going on.

Totally true...and check out this story that just cracked me up...http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18024484/

Paula has to board with the children and invalids because she is "famous". More like she's so heavily medicated that she might actually be boarding-challenged.

I had not bridged Chris into Munchkinland habitant, but that's a great take.

If you look at it, Simon only has about 3 weeks left to get Sanjaya off the show before he eliminates one of the 3 really good singers. I think the do-rag last night made him look like a member of the cleaning crew in my office.

I cleaned up dinner from the floor after I saw the show. I thought to myself hey enough of the joke here. Did you all note that nazzel singing is a real technique in singing? Then Paula everytime she talks I hear "You really looked good up there but doesn't my hair look better?" Syngy looked like a first time cycling instructor with that Dew Rag on. There is only one real singer left and she is way too nice for Simon. It was dreadful I have never heard anything so bad.

Just remember, and I tell this to people who are not Idol fans, William Hung was dismissed at the auditions. He was just so deliciously bad, that he enjoyed an extended 15 minutes of fame and sang at some arenas at halftime and such.

Sanjaya was actually given a pass into the Top 24 and then was passed through by the voting participants as far as he got. He appeared to have some talent in the early stages. Then, you listened a little more closely and it was so pathetic that he gained internet and coifure cult status.

At least the ones left can sing...3 are very good singers.

OK...I get wanting to raise some money. Frankly, Rupert Murdoch could have just dropped the $5million immediately and not tied it to the voting.

So...no one leaves this week. The boys are all so horrible. Nasal Boy just butchered Clapton. Beat Box Boy just takes John Lennon's masterpiece and turns it into a total snoozefest. And Nosferatu...sings and reminds you he has a wife and kids, which means, "Please don't make my babies cry."

Please make any guy go away next week...2 if possible...The Alien Phil and Nasal Boy preferably.

You should have seen the two different reactions in my house last night when Blake did his thing to the Bon Jovi song.
My 7 yr old son, who's been the biggest Blake fan since Hollywood week, was jamming in the living room. He thought he was HOT!
Then there's the DH, a pure classic rock fan who's veins in his throat were throbbing as he said *^*#^*%$, YOU"VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME RIGHT???

Blake stinks. You are looking at him and not listening. Sorry to issue the wake-up post. This is a show abut being decent or really good, and this guy is the best of a really mediocre group of boys. AI ratings have been down also. Because too many crappy boy singers.

He'll never sell at all. I was right about Taylor Hicks and I'm right on with Blake. He's all dance, clothes and attitude. The only hope for the show for sales is Jordan. Melinda can sell records to the over 45 demographic.

BTW, on Bon Jovi night, would it have not been a good idea for Simon to listen to a few Bon Jovi tunes before going on the air?

Barry Gibb needs to cut and dye his hair and stop singing. He keep hunching over when ever he tried to sing the high notes. It was really sad, but my husband and I had some comic relief watching him sing.

Didn't I read Pink got divorced from Corey Hart?

Wait :? was it me that posted this song? I really don't remember having a Jason Mraz version of 'Summer Breeze' (I probably do, just don't know it  ).

I'm with you on Blake, Jean...I think Jordin is a better vocalist, but to me Blake is more 'real' and will sell the tunes!

I'm watching while typing...I like them both and can't pick between the two. But I agree with Simon -- Round One goes to Blake, imho.

ok, do they just pick the stupidest, lamest, songs for the "original song" EVERY year or what???
They need to have a GOOD original song for each person, one that suits them. Or better yet, let the finalist write the songs!!

I think Jordan will probably get it, she was trying to seal it at the end with that little "i'm so choked up, I can't finish the song" ending.

I agree. Sappy ballad -- certainly favors the young girl with the big voice.

I think Jordan's gonna win but would be fine if Blake won too this year. I'm still mourning the loss of Melinda.

If anyone actually thinks Jordan isn't far and away the best singer, you really need to have your ears examined. Blake wasn't even the best boy from the last 6. He really has an average High School musical voice. And then hopping around while singing the last ballad shows he's really clueless musically except for some beat boxing, which is so incredibly popular you can earn at least $20 a day beat boxing on Times Square. For 4 quarters a guy on 46th and 7th Ave will beat box the March of the Wooden Soldiers for you and the kids during Xmas season. It's a huge art form everywhere....

And Paula is very close to haunting a house. Is she trying to do Jack Nicholson "Joker" impressions? "I tripped over my poodle and broke my nose?" She's definitely over medicated. Thank goodness it's the finale and she gets to go home for a while...she's almost unwatchable sitting next to Col. Randy.

ac, that's way too funny, i love that! good thing no one can see me right now...my house haunting look is in full swing  and yes, jordan is probably the best singer but i still like blake way better....his genre is very fresh for AI. i bet there is a ton of raw talent on the streets out there, but the producers of the show need to let them through instead of all the goof balls who just want their 2 seconds of idiotic fame! go blake go! btw, i actually missed last night's show--last pto meeting of the year, our principal took the board out for drinks.....my kids will have to fill me in after school :) go blake go! jmd

Well, it's over and thank goodness the right person won. Not necessarily the best singer, that could have been Melinda or LaKisha. Not necessarily the best entertainer, that could have been Sanjaya or Blake (both horrendously weak vocals). But, a young person with a lot of potential and G-d given vocal gifts.

Now why do they continue to push the finale ballad on us? Every year it is just a awful sappy tune. It obviously became Blake's final undoing since he had to just stand and deliver a vocal, and without turning sideways. posing, beat-boxing. He just had to stand and sing and just was unable to do it. I wish that one of the better voiced girls were still there to make it more competitive at the end, but c'est la vie.

We got to see every aspect of an Idol winner last night. From the very successful winners like Carrie and Kelly, to the commercially unsuccessful like Taylor and Ruben. The absentee Broadway actress Fantasia and finally a new young singer who can be molded into a big vocal star. You saw runners up more sucessful than the winners (Clay, Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry) and some entertainers who seem to have lost their gifts, particularly last night Bette Midler (Jeez, I have been the biggest fan of Bette, but she was unwatchable last night) and earlier this year, Diana Ross.

Hopefully next year they can do a better job casting the show with more talented singers. Just look at the final 4 or 5 this year versus last year and it becomes pretty plain. You had Elliot, Chris, Taylor and Katherine last year...This year, well, it just wasn't as interesting.

It is an incredible event every year now as we watch unknown people pass through all sorts of hoops, develope likes and dislikes, and we vest time and interest in the outcome. Sports shows were taking calls from listeners who were switching between Yanks-Sox and Idol Tuesday night. Amazing!!

Now we listen going forward.

This is the first year I actually watched from beginning to end. Other than this year, I quasi-watched the Clay/Ruben year, so I have nothing to compare it to. I thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot believe how sucked in I got. I think the whole thing is brilliant and can't wait until next season.

And may I also say that I had never heard Kelly Clarkson before (see, what I say I don't listen to the radio, I mean it). I always imagined her stuff would be the usual, overly-produced pop stuff. Was last night's performance her usual? She reminded me of this year's Gina -- rocker chick. Wonder if I should give her a listen.

What man pissed off Kelly Clarkson soooo much, that she had to write and deliver that song to millions?
My 7 yr old son listening to it last night said to me, "wow mom she's sounds and looks really mad at someone!" :o
