Sorry Moonie I was away and now I'm back!

How many peeps do we normally need for a CD tree? I only did one and I wasn't the organizer--is it 10 or 15?

So far we have:

y-guy
Rick (I think. Were you volunteering for this or did I just volunteer you?)
Moonie
zoepup (I think. Again, not sure. Please confirm.)
Yvonne
Me

THAT IS 6 PEEPS! WE NEED 4 MORE!!

A cd tree usually has 10, but I've had up to 12 before. At the looks of it I don't think we will have a problem with having more than 10

Seven peeps and counting!

OK I will make it more enticing by saying that you don't have to have a profile to go with the music.

How about just 10-15 songs (w/up, c/down, climbs, flats, WHATEVER)....

Any more enticing to you??? COME ON!!!!

Megs I've only done it once and what we did was create a profile and the music to go along with it (on CD and all mpeg files and no mix meistering of songs so people can mix and match them the way they want).

However, in order to make it less work and more enticing for everyone, I was thinking we could just do the playlist we have used (in order of songs used the way you did with the profile) instead of sending the matching profile.

You would burn 10 CDs of your playlist. Then, once we get 10 peeps to commit, someone gets the emails of everyone else and everyone emails that person with their mailing addresses (I will volunteer for this part). We set a deadline date (I think) and everyone gets some fresh music with a matching playlist of the names of the songs and artists.

If anyone can further elaborate (I can't access pedal-on since my IP address has been banned again so I can't check the forum for posts about CD Trees).

Do I have this right? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Tempting....but seriously, I don't have anything that hasn't been posted (other than a few---and I mean only a few---that I'm saving for the WSSC tree). And if I just pick a fav playlist, chances are it will include things I've gotten from some of you. Oh what to do what to do???

Pink. She always has my back. What can I say. I am back from subbing tonight, my regular class last night, and another class on Saturday (and then there's my bike fittings tomorrow (road and hybrid) and my full-time job where I earn the real dough and I'm still playing catch up...)

Sweetheart, would you be so kind as to take my stupid plate that I thought I could handle? I am mature enough (well, cripes it's about time) to admit when I need help, and not stupid enough to pass up somone I trust taking the reigns....

I was thinking about filling it up 60 min's worth with a few extras. I've gotten and used so many songs from cd trees that I'm just going to put one's on there that I have found all by myself. That way you guys might not have them. :D

So basically mine will be sent in no particular order, however I will probably keep warm-ups at the beginning and cool downs at the end.

I'll make an executive decision and say there's room. By adding luv2ride28, we'll have either 10 or 11 (waiting on Zoepup). I'll also say it's officially closed at 12.

luv2ride: I've just burned CD's. You can send a disk of mp3's also. If you blend your tracks (via Mixmeister, etc.), you'll need to unblend them. Send me a p.m. with your name, mailing address & email address.

Welcome Luv, I'm sure we could squeeze you in. Can't we guys? Anyway I believe we are burning playlists in the audio format, but I'm sure some will send more tracks and use the mp3 format. Pink
04-29-2007, 07:52 PM
Mine are burned (burnt?). I took a class CD, unblended it and burned it. The class CD is about an hour long so I filled in with random tracks. I think there are 17 or 18 total. I also typed up the profile & added it. But there is NO need for anyone else to include a profile. DH was watching a movie I wasn't interested in last night, so I had time to kill in front of the TV.

Honey no worries! We will love anything you send. It's the thought you put into it that really counts. Plus I always think of CD tress as gaining insight into the person's soul--seeing what music really moves and motivates that particular person, for when they are instructing and coaching. So it will be great to get to know you better---looking very forward to your CD!

Hey...
Just wanted to let you all know that I haven't forgotten the cd tree, just been busy like Monica! Our 5 month old was dedicated today in a special ceremony at our church, so we spent a lot of time this week getting ready for the "after" party. Yesterday, we went to talk to the developer of a neighborhood we were considering since my husband is relocating us, and ended up buying a house  ! And...I'm flying to FL with my two girls on Tuesday to visit my brother, so there's lots of packing to do.

I PROMISE I will work on my cd when I get back next week. You guys are all such music experts...I don't want to just crank out the standard stuff. I'll post when they're ready and in the mail so you know to start looking for them.

Congrats on the support from your gym, Monica! That's great! :D

Monica, no need. Give it more time. If it doesn't come by Miami, bring me a copy then. DH lost his wallet a week and a half ago. We canceled our credit cards and they reissued new ones. The company said they mailed them last Thursday and they still haven't arrived. I guess my 'hood is still serviced by the Pony Express.

So DH went to the P.O. Box today to get the mail. There were 3 envelopes there!!! Pink's, Monica's, and Mason's! YEAH! He was on his motorcycle and had to go to the grocery store after the post office. He put the three envelopes carefully in his motorcycle compartment (underseat storage compartment) and off he went to get a few things we desperately needed at home.

Upon arriving home, took out the groceries and realized that he had placed them on top of the CDs! He opened each of them. Pink, yours was still in one piece. Mason? Yours was fine. My dear Monica Electronica, yours was nicely broken into about 5 pieces. DH was so upset he called me immediately at work (was on the phone with Mike and Y at the time). Such a sweetheart--he was really upset about it. No worries, I told him.

Monica, along with my CD that I'm sending out this weekend, I'm including with yours a a self-addressed stomped antelope (oops: I mean a "self-addressed stamped envelope") and a blank CD. Would you be so kind as to please burn me another copy? Much obliged, sweetie pie!

You know I thought I did but here it goes.
1) like you did cut it out.
2) add 4 volume markers around the offensive word/words (2 to each side) and drop volume by dragging down the blue line to lower than audible levels
3) drag and drop a voice over -over the top of it and in conjunction with item 2 above

Hope this helps

Monica Electronica,
Thank you for sending me another CD! COOL! I'm mailing mine out tomorrow for SURE! Yes I sure do remember you posting about your husband selling his Suzuki Hyabusa so you cool attend WSSC (I just love that he did that for you--so sweet!). Those things are FAST! You probably know about the Steeler's QB Ben Roethlisberger riding his and having a pretty bad accident. He didn't have a helmet on (moron!) and more than likely didn't have the proper training to ride such a fast machine.

Bill has a Suzuki also, but it's a Burgman 400 Maxi-scooter. Here's a picture of what his looks like: http://www.scootertrap.com/Burgman_400_Profile%5B1%5D.jpg

He loves it! I bought it for him as a surprise for his birthday 2 years ago. Had the dealership drive it home to the house and had it in the garage so when he came home from work and opened the garage door, there it was! The look on his face was priceless and he gets so much pleasure out of riding it (and it gets great gas mileage!). Sounds like our DH's would have a lot to talk about if they ever got together!

What a nice wife you are! I didn't know about the football player. If Claus knew about it he probably wouldn't tell me because he knows I worry about him when he's out riding. Not the Gold Wing so much because its so big but that darn Hyabusa is a crazy machine! It would be a waste of time to celebrate it being gone though. I know the minute he has the funds he'll buy one thats even better in his eyes and worse in mine. He has been riding since he was fourteen so I wouldn't dream of asking him to stop. That would be like him asking me to stop IDC!

WOW! Claus has a Gold Wing? Ooooooohhhh those are incredible machines. These are the folks who works as the watchful eyes and ride with us on the MS-150 ride. They are like guardian angels to the cyclists! Have you ridden on the Gold Wing with him?

It sounds to me like he knows what he's doing being that he's been riding since he was 14! Holy smokes that's terrific! He has years of experience but even still, we love them so we worry. Not so much about THEM, but about the OTHER GUY other there!

Yes, I do ride the Gold Wing with him. Sometimes we go to Quaker Steak which is in St. Perersburg, about an hour away from here. Its a really nice ride and when we plan it right we can catch the sunset as we ride over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. One night on the way home as we were riding over the bridge we saw a shooting star and it was breath taking. The Goldwing has a stereo and arm rests. That's why he kept that one and sold the sport bike. We enjoy going out on the motorcycle together, him more than me. I don't love motorcycle riding but he does and I love him. He wouldn't hesitate to do something with me that doesn't interest him.

I am glad you like the cd. The members at my club are not really into world/electonica/dance/remixes, (at least not an entire class worth) but I am slowly slipping them into the profiles. That is why songs like the ones you and Pink have on your cds are great for me - I get to learn about new artists and then use them in class. They are genres that I am not really familiar with, so it helps me branch out too.

Pink - thanks for the profile - I am looking forward to using it (and the music too).

This is what I like about a CD tree - everyone wins! 8)

Wow, I got Christian's, Yvonne's and Lori's all within the last four days! I'm enjoying this wonderfully diverse collection of music. Each one is soooo different than the one before it. Thank you for the different perspectives and I can't wait until I have time to examine them more closely. I'm afraid it won't be this week. My oldest son is graduating from high school on Friday night. I was just informed this morning by both of my teenagers that there will be police officers everywhere at the graduation ceremony including snipers because of a gun threat from one of the students who is graduating. He's being allowed to walk the stage with a police escort to receive his diploma. He swears he was joking but since he said it within days of the Virginia Tech incident no one is taking any chances. I'm completely stressed over the whole situation and to be honest really pissed off that I had to hear this from my kids instead of from the school.

DUH!  Lori, thank you so much for the very BIG chocolate bar! I'm sure I would have broken into it right away but it was more like a chocolate sauce than a chocolate bar because it was about 87 degrees here today  but thats alright, I popped it right in the fridge for later! You really are too sweet Lori, thanks again from the bottom of my heart. Did you get my cd?

Finding eeking out a moment to check in. I am sooooo enjoying everyone's CDs. Receive Monica's, Luv2ride's, Redsquirrel's, Like2Bike's & Yvonne's. Such great stuff -- honestly! I am really surprised at the number of artists I've never heard of. Now, I've got all new groups to investigate! Fun, fun, fun. Thanks everyone!

wow! what an experience this has been so far ... i feel like i've been been given a window to view what your students hear, and feel during one of your classes!

thanks for the compliments on my cd ... i was a bit concerned that it was too far off the beaten path; but that's really a huge glimpse into a day's training with me :D. My philosophy is to make the music a score that compliments the activity ... i dont typically use music with a lot of lyrics right now, but that's because I get too distracted! and believe me no one wants to hear me sing along!

i've been teaching for nearly 9 years now, and my training style and musical selections continue to evolve even at this stage of my tenure! i cant wait to use each and every cd i've recieved. my plan is to use them all exactly as is .. giving all of the credit to my talented cyber-friends.

So far, i've recieved cd's from Pink, Monica, Christian, and Mason .. i'm blown away by the diversity among us, and so jazzed to have these new tunes. Lori i'm getting worried ... now i'm going to hunt my mail carrier down and check him for chocolate-breath!

Cant wait to recieve the rest!!

M

Just wanted to congratulate you and your son on this momentus occasion! I'm betting that you're thinking about that first day of kindergarten, and wondering how you got to this point so quickly! (and, also scratching your head about how can it be that he's old enough to be a high school graduate when you haven't aged a day?) Time really flies doesn't it?

Oh no Y! I only sent Monica a chocolate bar because she had to go to the trouble of mailing me yet another CD because my DH accidentally set groceries on it and it was split into a nice selection of sharp pieces of broken CD mush! So don't worry about chocolate breath on the mailman! (although now I kinda feel bad--actually it would have been fun to send EVERYONE a candy bar!)

Monica! I was so appreciative that you were willing to send me out another CD that I had to do something fun for you so I'm glad you liked it! I'm so sorry it melted (OK I'm a moron to mail chocolate in late spring) but thankfully you put it in the fridge! Hope you enjoy it!

AND YES! I went to the PO Box and there was your CD! YAY! I noticed how your wrapped in in bubble wrap just in case DH picked up the mail again (and he did) but today he took his car and not his motor scooter. Can't wait to give it a listen--bringing it with me to work tomorrow so I can listen while I work. Thanks so much and sorry for the trouble!

Monica,
I am listening to yours right now at work. I love "Black Flute" by Leftfield. Also, I had only heard the German version of "Earth Below Us" by Peter Schilling a few times in the past and always thought it was better than the English version. I was right! I love it! I like that you put the German version of Der Kommisar on here too--it's so cool to hear a familiar song in another language!

I also like the fact that you have a wide variety of songs from familiar ones, to not-so-familiar, to ones with words to ones without words. Very well-balanced.

So far the CDs I've received are amazing! Looking forward to hearing the rest! THANKS TO ALL!

Apparently it is, if you were trying to say "turn the lights off!" That's what Claus says it means. (I added the exlamation mark because it sounds like there should be one after every sentence in German.)

I have decided to listen to all of your wonderful CDs on my trip to Miami since its about a four hour drive. I'm really grateful for all of the fresh music perspectives.

Thanks Christian. I also like the basic of the profile you included!!

Hey Y'all!

I have received Luv2Ride's, Zoepup's and Meg's since Friday.

Unfortunately I have not had a chance to listen to them yet - I had to head out of town to see my Dad who is in ICU after emergency surgery. Long story short, he is doing well considering he was not supposed to make it out of surgery. It will take some time, but we feel good about his recovery.

I returned home last night and will be listening to CDs tonight.
I am really looking forward to everyone's tunes!

Hey Pink...I actually haven't gotten it yet, but our mail delivery can be pretty screwy. Give it a few more days and if it doesn't come, I'll let you konw. Thanks for checking! :D

Finished burning mine and should get them to the post office tomorrow. I have to confess, I'm a little nervous because my stuff is a bit more mainstream than what a lot of you may like (not top 40-ish, but recognizable). My classes seem to prefer the majority of the music be something they've heard, so I try to mix in some of the more familiar with twists on the familiar and some new stuff. I am so enjoying all of the cd's I receive...I just don't want to disappoint!

Red, sending healing vibes to your dad.

Meg, yes, it just took sitting still while I listened. Meanwhile, High Fidelity is one of my all-time favorites, so I love the little clip.

Traci, no worries. That's what I love about these things -- we get a little bit of everything. Actually, I just got back from teaching and one of my riders said she really liked today's mix because "she ALMOST knew some of the tracks." Cracked me up -- "almost familiar."

To everyone.. I have received 6 of 10 CD's so far.. and I will state again that this is one of the best trees I have been a part of. there is lots of strong beat music and some familiar that I did not have. I have already r-mixed some of the music and the class loved it. Got a new one in the CD player today and I love the beats, but it sounds like the tracks might be mixed :(.

Enjoy and if you all want to do another one together it would be great.

Hey Guys and Gals!

Just a quick update - papa squirrel is doing much better, still have to deal with the aneurism in his chest, but he is light years beyond where I thought he would be when this first happend Friday night. Thank you for your happy thoughts, healing vibes and prayers - their mojo is working and we appreciate it.

Now on to the tunes. . . . .

Luv2Ride - great songs - same genre I like - there were quite a few songs that I did not have in my library - great additions and they fit well with my existing profiles! Thanks!

Zoepup - I really like the various styles - only had one song - good stuff!
I am really groovin' on Matt Redman - gonna have to check out his other tunes.

Meg - didn't catch the High Fidelity snippet the 1st time I listened to it - great movie; I also like the variety and the songs have great beats. I haven't heard of the Coldplay remix - also likin' Tomcraft - good ones!
Q - Wicked Because of You mash-up - Chris Issacs is the Wicked Game - who is the other artist? I like it a lot.

I agree with Zoepup - although this is my first CD tree, I am really stoked about the freshness of all the tunes so far and each CD brings something new to me.
