I just finished this book and it was an amazing, beautiful, emotional rollercoaster for me. I've been on a book frenzy the last 2 months and I've read several but this one...this one really hit home.
'At the heart of Pam Houston's tender novel Sight Hound is a surprisingly thoughtful three-legged Irish wolfhound named Dante. Convinced that it is his responsibility to teach the humans around him about love, he concentrates his efforts on his owner Rae. While the thought of a canine in the lead role may give many pause, in this case it shouldn't. Houston manages to pull this aspect of the story off with skill and is able to create a multi-dimensional character out of a cancer-riddled old dog.'
For all animal lovers out there, especially anyone that has ever had a companion animal that falls ill, this is a must read. I had a dog names Skippy who was my heart, he had epilepsy. We had to put him down last August and I still miss him terribly. This book actually helped with some of the feelings I had/have about his life-Was it good? Did he feel loved? Etc. Read this!! So good.
