A friend of mine sent this to me about a charity event:
"In this edition of “Racing to save lives...One pedal stroke at a time,” I would like to introduce you to my sister, Beth. She is one of the honorees for whom I am riding. At the age of 41, Beth was diagnosed with breast cancer. Three years after successful surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, she is healthier than ever. She leads an active life with her full-time job as a director of a non-profit organization, volunteer work, family, circle of friends, and hobbies. In her words: “I have a new appreciation for how great life is, and how few things are really worth the stress I used to put into them. I am so grateful for all the work that goes into research about cancer and other diseases. The treatments are advancing so quickly these days that people living with cancer have much more hope than ever before.”
To continue providing the kind of research and care Beth wrote about, we have the FIVE-FOR-FIVE Challenge. It’s quite simple, actually. Send this e-mail out to FIVE friends or relatives and ask them to donate $5.00. If everyone does this, we will exceed our goal. Here’s what you can write:
My friend, Laura, is cycling 100 miles to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. It's her second century ride, and she could use some help! So I am asking you to Gimme 5!
1. Gimme 5 minutes of your time - go to Laura’s website at http://www.active.com/donate/tntsofl/tntsoflLForkne1 and read about what she is doing.
2. Gimme $5 bucks - just donate online: five dollars for a great cause - and hey, if you want to donate more, fantastic!
3. Gimme 5 friends - send this to five friends and help spread the word!
4. 5 was the age of diagnosis for Sofia, the honored patient that Laura is running for. She is 7 years old now and doing well.
5. Every 5 minutes someone new is diagnosed with a blood cancer - money for research is desperately needed - so donate now.
There are two easy ways to contribute. You can securely donate on-line on my TNT website: http://www.active.com/donate/tntsofl/tntsoflLForkne1.
Or, you can send your tax-deductible donation directly to me for processing made out to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Please be sure to note my name on your donation if you mail it directly to:
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Southern Florida Chapter
Dept 950
P.O. Box 145900
Cincinnati, Ohio 45250
Be sure to check with your employer for matching funds. What an even faster way to meet our goal. If you have questions about Corporate Sponsorship, I will be glad to send the information you.
A sincere Thank You to all of you for your help in making a difference.
