Notice my new avatar?

It's a piece of my son's art. Too small to tell, but they are birds across the sky.

You can most certainly. I noticed the new avatar. Love it. Is it painting or is it a photo?

A combo. Computer, draw/scan, draw on a draw-pad. Technically he'd tell you it's a coulage (have NO idea how to spell it--can't even come close enough to check in the dictionary). He's illustrating a Grimm's fairy tale for class.

I love it!

When I saw it I said, "was that a scene from The Birds?"

Pink it is beautiful! What a talented young man. WOW. Is he going to continue in the area of creative design and the visual arts? When I first saw that, I was wondering who the artist was. I didn't realize I knew the arteest's mumma! Very interesting piece.

I like it but its dark for the "Pinkster" Is it from Alfred Hitchcocks The Birds?

It's got a very "Wizard of Oz" look about it...like right before Dorothy and Toto make it to the house..."Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore".

I'm with AC, it reminds me of the "Wizard of Oz" beautifully done.

Thanks everyone!

Well, that's yet to be decided. He's really good at it, but he's not loving it at the moment.

Is it from Alfred Hitchcocks The Birds?

No, Megs, it came from his head. Scary, eh? Most of his stuff has a dark edge.

Pink, when I first saw your new avitar, I had to look twice. I thought it was an artistic impression of the shack where Dorthy lived in Kansas before she was swept away to OZ.

Pretty cool though.

Hey Pink, I think you can have all the bragging rights you want as a mom! You must be really proud of him, he is very talented!
I too thought of a Kansas/twister scene, how funny!
Then I thought maybe bats? But it's really neat.

For those Hitchcock fans, we know it could never be from The Birds because the birds attacked near the Pacific. Bodega Bay was a NoCal community. Tippi Hedren and Robert Taylor would not be in a corn/wheatfield.

I love your avitar Pink! My son is nineteen an just finishing High School. He is also very artistic. His drawings, computer graphic designs and music also all have a dark edge to them. It used to worry me. My father was very artistic and edgy and he met a terrible fate so I'm sure that has always been in the back of my mind whenever I see his artwork or hear his music. Of course he is my son and NOT my father and he has such a sunny and sweet disposition. I've come to the conclusion that its okay for his art to be dark because HE is not. How old is your son? Is he doing this for a living? He sure is talented!

Thanks Monica -- he'll be 22 in June. He's in his 4th year at Temple U's Tyler School of Art. He's probably got 1.5 years to go (double major -- graphic design & art education). He's worked in the field as an intern last year and they hired him for the summer where he worked on the following product launch: http://www.perfectpartyspirit.com/ He did all the colorization (note the product name: "p.i.n.k." LOL) Be warned, the site is slightly risque. Is your son thinking of pursuing the arts? If so and you'd like to chat about things, p.m. me.
