...I love him dearly, but believe me when I say he's a piece of work. Let's just say, he's the master of understatement.

So Mr. Pink, me, & 4 other friends are taking the dogs for a walk around the 'hood tonight. We're about 3 blocks from the house and our son pulls up in the car, rolls down the window & says, "I think the house is on fire." What the???? Mr. Pink jumps into the back of the car & they take off. The rest of us calmly head back to my house, looking for smoke and listening for sirens.

Long story short as we turn onto my block, Mr. Pink is walking towards us. Seems DS's TV blew, there was some smoke, smell, but no fire. Honestly, I'm going to leave this kid in charge of the house while we're in Miami????

Just another day at Chez Pink.

Good luck with that, Pink.

At least there really wasn't a problem....

The fact that he said, "I think the house is on fire" and not "I THINK THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE!" has me a little worried.

Well, I say have Mary (cfoam) house sit while you're in Miami, just to be on the safe side.

That's hillarious.

Actually I can relate to your son.

I tend to be a little non-chalant about things.

We have the opposite problem 'round here. OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OHHHHHHHHHMYYYYYYYYYYGOD! usually follows all of the major catasrophies and most of minor ones. That's my seventeen year old daughter. I would tell her to save the drama for her mama, but she already does.

Well today we had a little talk to make sure he isn't really as clueless as he sometimes appears (he actually IS in the top of his class, just shy of a 4.0). I showed him where the electrical box is, the main switch, the gas turn-off, the water turn-off, etc. He followed me around the house and then asked if we would get him a new TV.

I LOVE IT!!!!!!! It's great to have someone to talk to who has kids in the same stage of life as mine. I get to go through all of it again when my three year old grows up! I'm wondering if it will be any easier then? Don't answer that question! :)

No easier, you just won't care as much. I mean, you will care as much for the kid, but you won't get too excited when they burn down the house.
