View Full Version : Signs of the IDC Apocolypse Are Upon Us

I know this isn't the Snafflette thing, but reading through lately, these are some things that will indicate to me the end is near...add on as you wish:

1. You're singing into the mic during class
2. You make up a list of your favorite Spin songs and "Who Let The Dogs Out" is on it (and you intend to play it again).
3. You're not an MI and you wear a matching "Spinning" outfit to a class (BTW, even the MI's look like they are ready to join "Up With People" for the halftime show, or they're going to hand out pamphlets for something at the mall).
4. You're almost finished with your cassette.
5. Someone came late to your class or left early and you have to write about it on a forum (because traffic, kids, jobs, alarm clocks, hand cuffs or other real life things never enter into your mind...just how important it is that someone not miss your indispensible words of wisdom as you warm up on a bike).
6. Your significant other and you share a special song and one of you decides to play it for the other in the class. Then the other riders start rolling their eyes back wondering WTF is this?
7. You decide to do a "Theme" ride and misinterpret what songs are actually about...like thinking "Born In The USA" is a happy peppy patriotic song for 7/4 rides.

More to come...

You decide that during your Halloween theme ride it would be cool to have costume changes.

You wear cycling gloves to teach IDC.

How about "Sitnspin"???

Just remember that 95% of the population think that the word spinning is related to yarn. So don't be surprised if someone wants to compare cross stitching and not cross training when they stop you in the parking lot. Then again, it night be interesting to see how good shape Grandma might be in.

I was talking to a co-worker the other day about Spinning and she came back with something about yarn...I said "Um, no I mean indoor cycling." She actually thought I taught a yarn spinning class at 630 in the morning!

You agree with getting devises that tell you how far you have gone in a 45 minute class.

you mention to some one that they need to lighten up on the handle bars and they sit up and start riding with no hands at all and you begin a version of "Who's on First" while the rest of the class looks on .

You start doing it for the money

You believe that you actually made a communications break through and that General manager understood.

The person who installed the Disco Ball and those who concurred that it's installation and usage would be a good idea, will be placed in a mass grave.

Those who have recently used it and have recommended to others that it's usage is needed, have already been targeted for retribution. They know who they are...be afraid...be very afraid.

You guys have DISCO balls? Any openings there for instructors? I might be able to modify my no hands standing run air guitar into some John Travolta disco moves. I can bring my own strobe light and fog machine. Anyone have an instructor bike on a platform that rises out of the ground to the music of 2001 space odyssey? And a jersey with that sparkly sequence stuff? Disco ball! Lasers! Fog! Strobes! Stayin Alive Stayin Alive I I I I Stayin Aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ve!!!!!!

Your gym films a commercial for local broadcasting that features a group on IDC bikes, spinning and bouncing at 120rpms or more, and they all lean their bodies sharply to the right as if on a tilt-whirl, and all smiling into the camera.

I saw this on TV up here.

Yes- these are the final days...

Disclaimer: I do not work at, nor am I a member of the above mentioned gym, but it does in fact exist an hour north of here.

Lizard, where's my screen spew protector???? You guys are great, disco balls???? What's next-playing Shake your Groove Thing!?
Making notes for my next playlist....

Who let the dogs out?
Shake your groove thing (need to borrow Sandy's disco ball)
Staying Alive (do no-handed standing run with disco moves and keep disco ball going...)

Hey! How about one of those color organ things that you used to hook up to your stereo and it would flash different colors to the music. Anyone got one of those I could borrow too?

Detroit Rock City - (live version by KISS) - turn off disco ball, turn on color organ thing, don hair band wig and transition to no handed standing run with air guitar. Maybe do some impersonations of Gene Simmons with the tongue....

Oh this is gonna be a GRRRRRRRRRREAT class!!!! I'm so excited. I just can't hide it..... I know I know I know I know that I........ Wow! Another great song just came to mind - better switch back to the disco ball. Oh and the Neutron Dance!!!! I feel soooooooo inspired!!!!!

Maybe I should start with the KISS song so that I can use the fog machine and strobe lights too...

This was not the profile suggestion page, unless you are willing to leave us here when we move into the next world.

You're all doomed...do you hear?...DOOMED!!!

I will begin hearing additional confessions in another thread in 2 weeks, as I have to leave this place for a week to explore new areas to settle (actually, I'm in Orlando for 6 days). But nevertheless...don't hasten the end of spin-days with blasphemous behavior (the disco ball in itself is nothing more tham a monument designed by people in their 50's with bad hair flashbacks and leisure suits.).

Oh...the humanity!!!

On our back wall, we've just added a hugamongo banner of a spinning hottie sitting in hand position 3. Besides the fact that she sprawled out over the handlebars, her one arm looks like...well...mine! Of course, mine has been screwed and pinned together. I swear she is mocking me. I've tried to coach her for the past week and she just has this Joker smile plastered on her Cameron-Diaz-wannabe face.

When the instructor developes a hatred for the Spin billboard....another sign of the apocolypse. Also when we begin coaching the form of jpg's. Approach the class with the objective of inspiring the living.

I don't know if Cameron Diaz spins, but Helen Hunt does...been in a class with her at a gym in LA.

Another sign the end is near...when I can remember some dopey class just because I saw someone famous in it.

And you will be tossed into the mass grave for rationalizing a disco ball in a gym. Your spin-soul will abandon your flesh for a better host. Such is the price you pay for the shiny ball idol you bow down to.

The whole disco ball thing is pretty funny. More so because I've been asked by my boss to try hanging styrafoam (sp) balls in our room to "soak up" some of the noise (the Yoga class has the same time slot as us just a few doors away). I was told I could really have some fun with it. Well, come on, you know the first thought that crossed my mind was disco balls! I'm feeling ashamed... oh so ashamed...

Pink's sooo right, it's a gigundo wall hanging in a seated HP3 smirking attack position (you know the one, CI move umm #3 I think), that only the instructor can see. One positive thing I've noticed is that her smirk seems to have cut down dramatically on the mirror watchers.
