So, oatmeal is what I eat most mornings, after class because it is filling, healthy, and can be doctored up in endless ways to keep it exciting. Yes, even more exciting than a new Masterpiece Theatre episode.

My fave oatmeal add-ins:

The Daily
Tbs almond butter and a dash of vanilla or almond extract
Fresh or frozen fruit on top (like blueberries of strawbs)
Plain ff yogurt sweetened with maple syrup or honey on top
Scattering of pecans, pistachios, or whatever nuts are around
And sometimes a blob of lemon curd
Or a dove square of chocolate chopped and mixed in or sprinkled on.

Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal
blob of pumpkin puree mixed into cooked oatmeal
dash of vanilla and pumkin pie spice
topped with vanilla yogurt

Chocolate Lovers
add Tbs or less of cocoa powder to oatmeal before cooking
Tbs almond or other nut butter mixed in to cooked oatmeal
Honey or other sweetener to taste
Top with milk - like a giant dessert - yum

Anyone else have some ideas for this?

Love oatmeal, but I'm pretty boring. First off, I used to cut up Irish steel cut but I've taken to Trader Joe's Organic Oats & Flax Instant packets. It's so tasty & takes 1 minute in the micro.

Depending on my mood, I'll add:

A handful of dried blueberries, almond slivers & skim milk.

Also, Trader Joe's sells a Mango Fruit Spread which is yummy in oatmeal -- just couple TBS.

I with also add little jars of baby food fruits -- I love the pureed prunes (spare the jokes) or pureed apricots.

And I love Butterfield Farms Organic Vanilla yogurt (from Whole Foods) and Horizon's Organic Low Fat Cottage Cheese mixed in.

that Mango spread Pink speaks of is awesome.

It is the consistency of applesauce and not only is phenominal with oats but you can also make a wicked frozen margurita with is also.

Hey, y-guy, have you ever tried TJ's peach sauce or apricot sauce? Yum!

I add chocolate protein powder with mine and it's almost like Coco Wheats.

Another one for your pie-hole:

Banana Cream Pie Oatmeal

To a bowl of cooked oats, add
T. cashew or almond butter (for good fat and creamy yumminess)
dash Honey (opt.)
Sliced banana on top
blob of Stonyfield "banilla" LF yogurt
crumbled square of graham cracker on top for "crunchy crust"

What's not to love?

PS - I have to go make this NOW!
