Nothing here I am still waiting to hear something too.
M
I was going to bring her lunch on Thursday but she didn't feel up to it. She was in a lot of pain and was going to call her doc for better drugs. (':)') I told her to call me when she was up to it but I was out all day/night.

Hi Guys,
One of those what the hell stories about where I've been. Good news is they fixed my knee, bad news is it wasn't at all what they thought it was. The short version is they ended up having to fracture my femur in three places with very deep holes to try and replace the missing lower part of my femur that was doing the bone on bone dance with my tibia. Removed a few loose pieces of bone and called it a morning. Thankfully, not caused by spinning-just a result of bad alignment from a ankle break 10 years ago. Can't walk on it for 6 wks, terrible pain for more than a few days that required major drugs and a huge thanks to Pink for covering some of my classes and keeping my head screwed on right amidst the plethera of friends and family falling like flies. Lesser strength drugs now so I can be trusted with a keyboard...missed you all a lot-thanks for the well wishes.

Oh Mary! Sweetheart! Here is a big hug for you (((((((HUG)))))))
I am so terribly sorry you have had to deal with this--sounds very painful and I truly hope that you can recover to 100% once you are healed. I'm not surprised that our dear Pink is helping you get through this--so glad you have such a dear friend who is close by.
Please know we have all been missing you here and that we wish you a strong, full recovery. Be strong, and check in and let us know how you are when you are feeling up to it.

As someone who had knee surgery last year and is about to have hip surgery to make it two surgeries in the last 16 months, I know exactly what you're going through. Hang in there and best wishes for a speedy successful recovery.

Thanks so much guys, you keep me going. Hour to hour-some good, some not so good but it's better than last week this time when it was second to second and minute to minute. Looking forward to days, weeks and months between pain and lapses in mental toughness.

Again, thank you all so much for your support. Hit the wall tonight, not allowed back (off the bike-will be for awhile), till next week, in a wheel chair... I actually knew that in my smart brain but not in my heavy heart. Recovering from multiple femur fractures has a way of kicking your mental a$$ toughness. Maybe it's just time to hang up the cleats, as much as I know I'm just in a bad place? I really want to also let you know how awesome Pink is-she's covered some of my classes even though she has a line up this past 2 weeks of family and friend's in need. Thank you Pink, love you big time!

You'd do the same for me so just shush yourself. I know you are going to be better than ever...it will just take time. And I'm not going to even listen to any stupid talk about "hanging up cleats." So try to keep your spirits up and when you are ready, we'll find a place to raise some hell.

Mary,
Sure, you're going through some tough times off the bike right now. We all know you'll be back. With Pink, you have someone there you can lean on.
Don't hang up the cleats, consider this a time to work on your comeback. Sit in front of the computer and put together a few mixes that motivate you and your students. Continue to give us all advice, help, and support as you have in the past.
The road to recovery is a little bumpy now, but after you have conqured your nemisis (that pesky femur), you'll come back stronger and better.
Get well soon and listen to your doctor and physical therapist for they are the keys to a successful recovery.
You're in our thoughts and prayers.

Mary, don't even think or talk about hanging it up!
Use this downtime to catch up on some reading. Go over to Human Kinetics and order yourself some mental stimulation, find something you need to read up on! That'll get your mind back ready to teach while your body is recovering.
Hang in there!! :D

AH Mary, enjoy the down time anyway you can. Forget Human Kinetics (what are you thinking here KZ :o ) Find some trashy novels with hot studs and ladies, good booze, good food and trashy lines! They will really relax you and get you ready to be back in the SPIN Saddle when the humid heat of summer arrives. :P All kidding aside, no rush, take your time and try and enjoy the recoop time. If you really want some work to do I think Pink could bring you some laundry to fold for her. I hear she opens a hotel at weeks end. You're in my prayers.

Yeah, speaking of which....what should one do with Rick for a week? LOL, Kelly already suggested dragging him around to Philly's Revolutionary sites and telling him, "this is were we kicked your butt."
Back on topic...
cfoam, you know we've got you cover. Heck, y'all covered my sorry butt for 5 months. And as an aside, I folded laundry with my left hand & toes (tmi???).

CFOAM - Girl listen, You are in a bad place right now, no doubt about that but you're an athlete, and athletes recover better than regular people. Your body wants to heal so it can get "back in the saddle" (pun intended). Just give yourself time and try to get rid of any negative thoughts you may have. They will only slow down the healing process. I've broken both of my legs, had a serious head injury and two jaw surgeries and I swear after each blow I've come back stronger and you will too. I agree with the advice about working on your comeback classes!

Sometimes recovering from surgery or an accident, etc. can really be difficult because we are so use to leading an active life, it's hard to be sedentary. It starts to bring us down, even sometimes depress us. Mary, as has been so wisely stated here by the others, you will come back stronger than ever and being fit will make you heal more quickly. Remember all of the good you do not only for your own health and fitness but for others whom you lead through your cycling journeys. Now, take a deep breath and repeat after me: There will be no hanging up of cleats! :P

Thanks Guys, I'm hanging in there and realize that hanging it up wouldn't change how things are for me right now. This will be a long road and I have to remember that and keep moving forward even though the steps are pretty small. Enjoy your holiday week-end.
