OK this ones for the heart rate monitor and the perceived exertion-ist (is this a word?)
This class requires a heart rate monitor with and average measurement in the file or summary indicating average heart rate. Pick a heart rate number by which will be the average number at the end of class as the average (thats why it's called Cruise Control). For instance if I pick 140 as my number I can achieve this in several different ways 1) Get to 140 as fast as I can and hold around it 5 beats high or low with equal time on either side especially if i drop 25 beats below 140 for 1 min I will have to go 25 beats above for 1 min. 2) train half the class at 120 and half the class at 160. 3) interval from 120 to 160 every song. 4) get a polar watch that has average as a screen mode while you ride (all Polar s series do). This class requires concentration on a number that in theory exist at the end of the class and a precise amount of energy is required to achieve it. If one has no monitor then ask them to hold a feeling or number between 1-20 and try not to fluctuate to much and hold that feeling till the end. Enjoy
