if I never have to go again it just may be too soon. Yes, that may sound a bit spoiled but keep in mind that two of my children are practically grown and were born and raised here in "Sunny Florida". If you're a people watcher, which I most assuredly am, it doesn't get much better than Disney World and I'm even sick of that. Part of the problem today is that we decided to surprise our beautiful baby boy who just turned four today with a trip to Disney World. We spent the entire day hearing "I want to go home". Maybe we should have asked him if he wanted to go to Disney World!

Monica my son (who's almost 8 yrs) is a Disney fanatic! Actually he's an amusement park fanatic. Loves rides.
I think if we lived in Orlando (where I was born and raised btw), he'd pay Disney to let him work there when he grows up!
He's been to all the Disney parks and Sea World, Universal, Cypress Gardens, The Space Center, and a week or so after I get back from Miami, I'm driving him down to Tampa for a few days to visit Busch Gardens. More rides, yipee!
Sure hope BG still has free beer samples, cause I'll need a cold one by the end of the day. :D

Oh, sorry the day wasn't what you had imagined. Why do you think your little one wanted out? Overwhelming? Too young?

Did you take him to my favorite place? The Haunted House Ride? :P or did you subject the poor guy to the teacups and "It's a Small World? " Oh, sorry the day wasn't what you had imagined. Why do you think your little one wanted out? Overwhelming? Too young?

I remember the first time there with my then 5 yr old and 3 yr old. After much anticipation and psyching up the kids, we pull in to the park, the first words out of my daughters mouth was "the sun is in my eyes". Kind of set the tone. My youngest was terrified of the characters.

I think the airport at Orlando is starting to cancel flights....not.

So one time some guy told me that he didn't like going to strip clubs...did that stop me? Did the table dancing stop?

Try Sea World, Wet & Wild, Universal Studios...maybe your kid is just freaked out from crowds and hyper-active parents?

Kid who don't like Disney World will end up someday as axe murderers and listen to country music.

I didn't know you grew up in Orlando. I spent almost twenty years in Lakeland. I absolutely hated living there! I thought I hated Florida in general until I moved close to the ocean. I love this area.
I really like Busch Gardens. I've been there a lot. I always liked it better than Disney World. The only things I like about Disney better are the night parades. I've heard Lowry Zoo has expanded and I'm thinking that might be more my son's style at least until he grows up a bit. I think the crowds and the long lines at Disney were too much for him. They don't thrill me either. Between going there as a kid myself and taking my older kids there I've probably been there thirty times, the crowds get worse every year and the people get more pushy.

A cruise is a cruise! I would hop on that in a second, even if it is Disney!

Kid who don't like Disney World will end up someday as axe murderers and listen to country music.

Or obsessed spinning instructors.

My sister and I never wanted to go to Disney and my parents went along with that. Our "dream vacation" was the Hockey Hall of Fame, which we went to when I was 11. My father, who only had us girls and no sons, and raised us on the Boston Bruins, was THRILLED!

As someone who doesn't like crowds, heat (unless in the pool or by the beach) or lots and lots of kids, I take my hat off to you parents who take the little ones. I'm not sure that I could.

Go Bruins! (Well, maybe they will again someday....)

Yes, overwhelming for sure. There are just soooo many people there and the lines are all at least thirty minutes long. I think that's tough for a four year old. I think it's tough for most people in general, especially when you add the heat! I looked around in one of the lines we were standing in and I saw mostly frowns and furrowed brows.

You see, that's it exactly. I so was not there for me. I was there for my son and if he doesn't want to be there, well, that's great! I don't have to go back - unless he changes his mind!

Maybe it's the age, we might be expecting too much from them by taking them to such a big place at such a young age. :?

No, not the "Haunted House, and yes "It's a Small World" but we took him down "Thunder Mountain" and it was his favorite ride! He's a bit of an adrenaline junkie I suppose.

I've been to Disney three times, and the most enjoyable time was when I went in the fall (Sept.) after all the kids were back in school. There were no lines; the heat wasn't bad; and the rates were a lot more reasonable.

I'm no longer fond of that ride.

I haven't been on the Disney cruise yet, but my brother's family just went this February. They had an absolute blast! My brother and his wife have cruised a fair amount in the past, and they were really impressed with the cruise line. The kids had a ton to do (including a building-sized tv screen above the pool outside playing Disney movies...great for my tv-aholic nephew!) They have so many great pictures with the characters on the boat. They got to pet and kiss a dolphin on an excursion (no, they didn't have to buy it dinner first  !) My niece and nephew are 8 and 5 and it seemed to be great for their ages. My sister-in-law recommended that we wait a few years for the kids to get the most out of it (mine are 2 and 6 months, so we were thinking like in 3 years or so, but they said maybe wait a little longer). They were very impressed. How exciting for your family!

Thanks.

My kids can't wait. There 10 & 8 and they sit together and look at the website and oooo and ahhhhh. The price went down big time over the fall and winter months.

This reminds me of a test I had post-accident. If I've already told the story, forgive me. Anyhoooo, I was sent down to UofP for a special MRI of my heart. 1.5 hours in an MRI machine. No sweat, I'm patient. The tech gave me earphones and asked me what kind of music I'd like. I told him I like odd stuff -- world, trance (you know, spin stuff) -- but I'd be OK with anything NOT top 40. He says, he had the perfect tape for me. He starts my IV, wraps me up in a transmitter thingy, gives me a panic button & in the machine I go. He starts the test & the music -- polka. OK, it's a world tape of some sort. Next song, Macarena Polka, next, bad wedding polka. Polka, Polka, Polka -- 1.5 hours. I thought I'd go insane. Does bad music warrant pushing the panic button????

Folks it seems we have a tie between the worst musical experience ever.

Kelly stuck in the Asian countries on the "It's a Small World" ride for 45 minutes with the "theme song" playing continuously in Japanese.

OR

Pink stuck in an MRI machine for 90 minutes listening to polka music.

Either way, being one with little to no patience I think I'd have to put a bullet in my head and called it a day.

I can't believe you didn't hit the panic button, such restraint!
