There is an article in the NY Times about indoor cycling classes. Not sure if its from yesterday or today as I am not a reader I was given it this morning by one of my members. Mainly hits on the benefits, if given correctly. And how the trend to do all kinds of crazy things on the bike to make it "more interesting" is being recognized as not the original intention of Johnny G. Kind of exposes the weaknesses of bad instuction vs. the advantages of good instruction.

That article was one of the best about IDC I ahve seen. They also had Jay comment on the uselessness of unauthentic cycling practices. I rate this a 9.5 it would have got a full 10 but there were not enough pictures :P

Last night I went to youtube and watched the 8 Johnny G video clips from Miami. To my surprise, I was spellbound. His music didn't appear to be loud; he didn't shout. He voice was kind, gentle and encouraging. His cues were simple but very effective.
I'm going to watch it again. I need to study more film. :D

Mark I was there live it took two full classes to get that one video. It was the most fun I have ever had in any cycling class. Things were not so low key. Mat could probably help out with a little of his memories but in the original intro Johnny came in so fast from stage left to right that he almost took out the intire set up on stage and nerely topled off the back. We all laughed as he picked himself up and jsut gave a shrug as he pretended to look for a wet spot. The camera guys had their work cut out for them. On the last take and when we were finished Kassie started a water fight that was huge! The air filled with H20 as if it were a Oregon spring day. Camera crews were scurring to cover their equipement laughter and anarchy ruled. When all water bottles contents were spent. A cheer went up :D simply awesome.
