Found out about this wonderful place in Miami, been hanging out at PO and I see a lot of familiar screen names. I got home early this morning (2 a.m.) and I'm a little cranky about being back at work.

I teach Spinning at a club in New Jersey at 5:45 a.m. (Centralish part of the state, close to the Jersey shore), I've been teaching for 3 years and I'm STAR 3 certified. My wife told me the GFM called while I was in Miami to say that my Monday and Friday classes were being cancelled, leaving only my Wednesday class. That and the pouring rain are adding a bit to my crankiness. Sorry to start things off on a slightly sore note. Anything anyone can say to brighten my day would greatly be appreciated.

Glad you made it home safe and sound but I'm sorry to hear about 2 of the classes you teach being canceled. On the bright side, you still have one class and you can put all of your energy in to that one!

Boy I know what it's like to be cranky, believe you me. The only thing that usually cheers me up is a big plate of french fries with Heinz ketchup. Oh, and a big tall cold one (or maybe 2).

Welcome home. A good night's sleep will also help chase "the cranks" away!

Hey Spin Bob - Just got a class cancelled also for summer schedule. Weather here on Long Island sucks too. My mic broke (actually that was my back up mic so both are now gone). It could always be worse. You had a great time at WSSC. You're home safe. Smile. It'll change your whole day.

SpinBob, I agree, it can be scary to start at a new club but it is also very affirming. I've add 3 others to my original club and each one has a different "feel." It's caused me to grow as an instructor & has helped boost my confidence. If your current club can't feed you enough classes, take a deep breath and shop around.

So I got back from WSSC to find that two of my three classes were canceled. Yesterday I auditioned at a new club, that is walking distance from my house, and today they offered me 3 classes.

MonicaI just think my musical taste just happens to fits in with the club members and fitness director, I found out that they liked mix of classic and modern/alternative rock. So that's what I played. I used an interval profile and pretended to be happy and peppy;) I figure I can gradually ease different kinds of music in to the mix and they'll never know what hit them.

I think getting three classes was just being in the right place at the right time. One of the classes is subbing for someone on vacation for the entire summer and the other two classes are new to the schedule. Maybe it's a gamble to take classes with no establish class base, but if I can make them work, it proves I'm good. If they don't work, I guess they figure they can cut the classes and send me to the sub list and not effect their current classes or instructors.
