Today on my ride I saw a dead raccoon, and two dead hedgehogs. It's sad, there's so much development going on in this area, that the wildlife is getting pushed out of its habitat...out into oncoming traffic.

Road kill = opportunity to practice your bunny hop maneuver.

Heritage Trail doesn't have much development and today I "shared" the trail with a momma and baby deer. I would hate to think they were being pushed out because someone wanted to build a newer shopping mall.

It is gutwrenching to see Nature affected so negatively.

All of Nature, including those plopp happy birds.

Well, hopefully there won't be any lizard roadkill this weekend! I'm off to have lunch with DW, then a 4 hr drive to Ithaca for the Quadzilla tomorrow morning. I'll report back on Monday. Have a great weekend everyone!!!

No squirrels today, which surprised me, they are usually the most common splats in town. The town streetsweeper must have gotten them.

Last year at my son's bus stop there was a dead squirrel in the gutter. The school bus comes along and stops just before it rolls over the squirrel. The kids get on the bus and it rolls off, both eyeballs pop out of the squirrel's skull as the bus rolls over the carrass. Man was that gross.

Oh lord, thanks for the mental picture...

well, all I have for backyard are woods, woods and more woods so it isn't odd to see deer, racoons (very ballsy too!), squirrels, etc... this morning there was a beautiful red fox that seem to disapeared by the time I came back with the camera... sadly, I do seem to see the little buggers dead in my street a lot, it's woodsy but narrow and with plenty of traffic...

Funny, I was detailing the roadkill on this mornings ride. I was thinking "that's why we do jumps in spinning.":D My roadkill entree consisted on 3 racoons and a deer. I no longer count amardillo or oppossum.

Rode the other day and passed a road-kill skunk. Rode past the same spot and the animal is gone but the smell is still there.

Oooooooh, skunks are worst. I once drove my car over what must have been a freshly hit skunk and my car smelled skunky for days.
