Looks like a great ad for Cannondale with some very attractive models (and no, I'm not talking about the bikes!) That is so cool that you guys finally caught up with one another and met! I'm assuming you got to ride together as well?

Yeah, it was a REAL coincidence! I was just getting my stuff out of my car (siver Taurus wagon behind us), when two guys that I knew from previous rides pulled up next to me along with Beth. Beth jumped off to run inside and I recognized her Cannondale. I was hoping that we'd meet up at least by Saturday evening, so it was great that we were able to meet before the ride even started - even bigger coincidence that Beth was riding with some people that I knew! :)

Liz, it was a pleasure to meet you - nice to have the chance to sit and chat a little bit at the Saturday evening festivities. How was your ride Sunday? I found myself watching my mileage at about 40 miles out - my mind started wandering out of the ride and onto getting home to my coffee, my newspaper, my family, my shower, and my own bed (not necessarily in that order).

It was also a pleasure to meet you! Glad to be able to finally hook up during a ride and put a real person to a forum name :) Sunday was pretty good for me - my overall average dropped to 18mph, but that was probably due to the fact that I knew that there wasn't any beer at the finish line on Sunday (or maybe it was due to the beer Saturday night...) :) We'll have to find a way to Megs down here and plan our next pilgrimage to Bedford!

Dillsburg is about 600' above sea level - the route that I took had a couple climbs that got up to around 2200', the rest were more on the 1200 - 1500' range. Probably ant hills compared to the stuff you have in Oregon - you'll be stomping us!
Hey we could get some Chocolate Stout! Take care of the beer and the chocolate at the same time. I used to make that in my homebrewing days, but put that aside when I started cycling.

Funny, I was just looking for it - I'll let you know when I find it.
Guess I shoulda had the beer Saturday night - we dropped from a 16.5 avg Saturday to a 16 on Sunday. A little more carb-loading may have helped! Actually, I think it was those peaches at the rest stop that weighed me down. I don't normally like to stop for anything more than water or a porta-potty break, but did you have any of those peaches???? They were awesome.
(edit) I know the website is www.digiproofs.com (http://www.digiproofs.com), but I don't remember the password (which isn't posted on the MS site yet). Do you remember the password on Harvey's shirt (the photographer)?

They looked tempting, but I stuck to my Clif Bars & Acel Gel - the only thing I did use at the stops was the Gatorade in my Camelback, as ziplock baggies of my Accelerade get messy with a breeze. I did indulge at the end with the chicken, homemade chips and got a couple extra helpings of the chili from Doc Holidays! I hung out by the food line and everytime someone said no to the chili, I asked for theirs. Thank goodness DW wasn't there to see me begging for chili  I also offered to do another 100 miles if they'd give me that huge bag of homemade chips!

Yah but see I try and avoid mountains when I come to them. Really its just a inconvenience when they make me climb them. I can break a RD trying to find an extra bail out gear. And I have been know to whimper at 1000 foot level. I really am lazy trust me I'll let you pull :D Actually I need a pull on some of my class hill climbs. So may be we can find some change along the way and get a cab ride over the harder parts of the climbing ....like at the foot of the hill :D but lets talk like we did them when we get that chocolate beer at the end. Sorry my inner poser came out:D

I skipped the chili (so maybe you got my share) and pasta salad, and stuck to the chicken sandwich. I don't eat fried food, but I did taste a couple of the homemade chips - mmmmmmmmm. No doubt those suckers were cooked in lard.
And Liz, don't believe a word of Meg's whining about climbs. He'll climb anything for a Starbucks and chocolate (preferably German Chocolate cake).

Do I need to visit one of the infamous performance enhancing doctors? Will my reputation be ruined for life? Will the media believe me when I state that I was just there for the German chocolate cake? Will I be able to answer the question....just what is in this infamous German chocolate cake that enhances your performance? Oh the ethical issues that are racing through my brain....

If we have to use Beth's German Chocolate cake to come out here for a bike ride, so be it. I'll get some good Troeg's microbrew beer too! Double incentive for coming out.
You know when the perfect time would be? During the Tour de Pennsylvania! We could hang out at the top of the Tuscarora Summit - one of the best climbs prior to Bedford on route 30. we can indulge in German Chocolate cake, drink some good microbrews and cheer the cyclists as they crest the climb! :D:D
