I encouraged so many of my students who were new fans to the TdF to watch the tour this year...how embarrasing and how sad.

This tour was "out the window" the second they allowed Rasmussen to continue to race, even though he'd skirted the out-of-competition testing rules. Even though he hasn't had a positive test, he didn't play by the rules. Out. Good, I say. Apparently the crowd there echoed this as well . . . he was reportedly booed repeatedly, both when signing in at the start and on the course.
Discovery now has Contador and Levi in 1st and 3rd. Wonder what it means to them at this point?

I'm glad to see him go as well. It was pretty hard to take him seriously these past few stages knowing he was dodging the questions about his whereabouts. When will these guys learn???

I'm also relieved that Bovine Boy was booted. It was like he was doing an "in your face" attitude with blowing off mandatory tests by lying about his whereabouts. Bad publicity for his team and sponsors - if he can't ride for his country in the Olympics, he shouldn't have been allowed to ride in the TdF. I can't believe that after getting booed that he understands how Lance felt - to put him in the same category, let alone the same sentence as Lance is rediculous.
Anyone want to place bets as to whether any more cheaters get caught before the last stage?

I'd love to place a bet. But I don't think we'll have anyone to take the bet that a clean winner will be the hero of this Tour. Not gonna happen my friend.

Gawd, I hope not. Although the utter and complete arrogance with which the cheaters ride is appalling; anyone left cheating SHOULD be tossed out. They may as well be thumbing their noses at the whole lot of us watching.
I do hope the dominoes are done tumbling now. Enough.
And I'm happy to see that no one will wear the yellow jersey today. There's some class left perhaps.

I agree with all of you guys. I have to say when I was watching his time trial knowing how pathetic he looked in previous time trials, blow by the guy who started before him I had my antennaes up. Something was not kosher. I think something was not kosher when he was training in the Dolomites too.

Denis Menchov just abandoned. Probably sick of busting his A$$ for chicken boy or bovine boy or whatever you want to call him (I'm sure Denis has a few choice names too) only to have him booted.
So they all roll over and one falls out. Now there's 141 in the bed and the little one said ... pass the dope.

Contador is one of the riders on the dossier for Puerto. The understanding is that he coughed up info about other people on 'the list' and that cleared him.
Who knows. I like to think, that being on Disco is keeping him clean?
I dunno,

Didn't Discovery recently hire a big name cyclist that didn't even get to race for them before being busted and finally admitting to "inquiring but never doing performance enhancing drugs" - almost like a recent president claiming to never have inhaled? I don't think any team is clean right now...

Do you mean Ivan Basso and the blood he stored in Dr. Fuentes' fridge? He claimed he hadn't infused it for his Giro win, was just planning to for the Tour (but ya know, the investigation interfered with those plans, so really, he's not guilty)....

Basso is/was another rider involved in Puerto. He had his dogs name on the blood reserved for him. It was really surprising that Discovery hired him with that information. I was definitely confused.
Also, most (all?) of the heavy hitters who left Discovery or the then Postal have been busted; Heras, Tyler, and Landis. Were they clean while riding Postal/Discovery?
Now, if they would only release the names of the others on the Puerto dossier. That would be interesting. It may also shine some light on other sports. What with the IOC threatening/bullying about the possibility of there being no bike racing in the next Olympics? The World Championships are in Germany this year and that may be suspect as well?
I like what Chris Horner said "I'm just here to race a bike."

I know this is a serious topic and I don't mean any disrespect but that comment had me laughing my a$$ off! Thanks for the chuckle! By the way, I'm always preaching nose breathing to my class and one of my students this morning said he's been watching the TdF and that they all mouth breath, do you know if there's any truth to this?

There's all kinds of breathing techniques out there, depending on the intensity of the workout. I've actually been working on a breathing technique that was developed by Ian Jackson back in the 80's - I read many online articles, finally got my hands on one of his books (The Breathplay Approach to Whole Life Fitness - 1986 was last year published) and even had the opportunity to chat with Ian far a couple hours on the phone last year for some personal "coaching". It would be too hard to try applying in a class, but it is "upside down" breathing - long controlled forced outbreath, and the inbreath coming quick and relaxed. I think it's really helped my performance this season so far.
In my classes I just try to keep everyone focussed on control of their breath - deep and controlled, not shallow and panting.

I hear that the devil on the side of the road came out and said that he doped to run along side the peleton now. The guys getting his trident busted down now by French officials as the "instrument de doper"

Worked for me! As in, 24 hour labor and two hours of pushing(posterior presentation) with no drugs. There was no pain - just surges of intensity - and, well, I'll leave it at that. Breathing can be the KEY to letting go of the fear, and as a result, the pain that can follow. It keeps you in the moment so much so, that time distorts and hours can seem like minutes.
If I never experienced it, I'd have never believed it. It's awesome.
Works for spinning, racing too. Who needs dope?

They should change the title to Rasmussen - F'n liar. Nobody stole his tour - he's a "professional" he knows the rules - 3 warnings of missing drug tests in a rolling 18 months = suspension... 4 warnings in an 18 month period AND LYING TO YOUR TEAM (who pays your friggin salary) = your fired. welcome to the real world. Lie, cheat, get caught, you don't deserve anything but a boot in the a$$.

"I was really in control of the race, but he (Rabobank manager Theo De Rooy) stole victory from me," Rasmussen told Danish daily Politken on Friday."
Waahhhh waaaahhhhh waaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh
What a whiner.
Why can't he just grow up and take responsibility for his own failure to behave professionally?
