no kidding! there's so much to say about doping ~ but another time ...
I have to say that as a Californian, i can't help but be beaming from ear to ear about Levi's performance, but just a bit saddened that he wanted the win so badly but just fell short. Can you imagine missing out by just 31 SECONDS? That's devastating!
I mean .. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 28, 30, 3-freaking-1!!! Levi missed out by the amount of time it took for me to type those numbers!
I"ll be flying my disco flag for a bit, (but i did wear the Astana flag for about a week,) let's hope they dont break my little heart yet again .....

I know what you mean, Y. That really is heart-breaking, although he should be damn proud, he's probably pretty devastated. :(

Levi's interview after the stage today (as well as after the TT yesterday) showed him to be a class act and a gentleman sportsman. Whether he was "devastated" or not, he presented himself with grace.
Good show, Discovery! They earned it, regardless of what BS went on with Vino, Rasmussen et al.
So now what?? Fishin' shows on Versus? Tomorrow morning I will get up, turn on VS. . . and will feel that familiar empty feeling I feel every year in the end of July :(
At least I still have my DVD's and DVR'd stages. And a fresh copy of The Triplets of Belleville (a must-watch for any Tour fan!!)

Of course he presented himself with dignity and grace. He is a pure, true athlete. By stating he may be devastated, in no way was I inferring that he was anything less than the epitome of a elegance and professionalism. I hope you didn't interpret my comment to mean anything other than that.

No worries!
My point was simply this: if he was disappointed in any way with the final results, he handled himself so beautifully in interviews that his disappointment didn't show at all. I prefer to imagine that he was as generous of spirit as he presented to the press.:)
It's funny watching any of the riders in interviews - they so obviously don't want to be chatting it up with the press either before or after a stage, but they do it anyway. It has to take some major effort on their part to put themselves in front of a mic. (Dave Z being the exception - I love that guy)
An aside: after Contador's TT finish on Saturday, as he was being whisked off his "machine" and led to the team trailer, Phil Liggett commented that "he doesn't look too happy, I wonder why that is?" Cracked me up . . . as I'm sure Phil knew, the guy had just done over an hour full-out - he probably had to go barf and they didn't want him to do it on camera:D

Too funny. I noticed there was a moment when Contador was on the podium soaking it all in. He looked a little dazed. I couldn't help but wonder what was going through his mind. "I think I'm gonna puke" was one thing I thought of....LOL!
