Question, are we doing mp3 format's? Because I would prefer to do it that way (you would be ashamed if you knew how many track 1's, 2's ect I have in my library). The problem is I have no idea how to do it myself so if someone can give us a lesson that would be nice.

Also profile? Who want's a profile, if we all want one great, otherwise we could just send the tracks no?

Usually how these trees work is we each burn a collection of songs on a cd (about 60 min worth) It could be your favorite class, (a music selection that went over well in class) or just a bunch of good songs that you like. You make 10 cd's of the same playlist and send them out to each of us, in return you get 10 cd's back. Now you have many new songs to add to your library! (FYI it's not a pyramid scheme) :cool:

Well somtimes we have a person who hogs all the cd's and forgets to send their's out *ahem* but I'm sure there's no here who would do that. :roll:

Yeah, all this...except, if they are mixmeistered, you need to unmix them so that we can use them as individual tracks. Honestly, files works best so you don't have to type in all the info -- which becomes a major project.

You all will get as much music as I've recently acquired in the last few weeks, and trust me that amount will NOT fit on one audio cd, so I will be converting the tunes into mp3's so they can all fit into one disc. So far put aside 260 mb (48 songs) into a folder. :D
And like Pink said, that way they have the track and artist listed, so NO typing in anything! Yipee!

What application are you using to burn the disc? Mac or PC?

On a PC, you can use Windows Explorer (under Accessories) and just drag the tracks from your hard drive to the drive with your blank disc in it, and there's a feature there to "Burn files to CD". It's no different really than saving any file to the HD or a floppy...

I use Roxio CD Creator to create a data disc and it keeps the names (although truncates them to 64 characters max).

They will work on most computers is you make them MP3 cd's. They wont be able to play them in a class as a profile without loading them on to thier hd and putting them into iTunes or MediaPlayer and burning a new CD from the files. Your choice: More Music or Use as it is CD.

As to the faint sounding bit.. I think that is a setting with your iTunes that you might have on to Volume Equaling (sp). Steve,

Okay, I'm trying to create my CDs, but about half the files I wanted to include are ones I've purchased from iTunes. If I send out data CDs instead of MP3 CDs, will that work for everyone? Otherwise I could burn and re-rip the iTunes files, but that involves lots of typing, so I want to make sure it's necessary before I do it.

Tara, I just sent out 575mb of tunes on a data cd, and all of those tunes I bought from itunes btw.
What you have to do is once you download them from itunes you need to make an audio cd or cds, depending on how many songs you have. Then rip the tunes into your computer and save them in a folder. Yes, you must either type the song and artist for each one before you rip it into your computer (I just copy and paste the artist and song name from the list in intunes, I keep 2 windows open).
Now once your songs are in your hard drive they are in WMA format. You can then make a data cd with whatever program you have that makes copies (I have sonic). You have to choose to make a data cd, and it will give you step by step instructions. You wanna make sure you click on 'make it compatible', or else no one will be able to read it when they put it in their computer.

I was real quick the last time, Moonie. I'm afraid all the excitement of last week has slowed me this time around. I'm working on it. My nephew is spending the night tonight. itunes only always 7 copies of one playlist. So what you would have to do is take one of the copies and then make the rest of the copies from that one in your cd burner.

Capegirl...mine (and Kelly's too) are data disks, not audio disks. Therefore they will not play in a CD player. You need to copy them from your disk drive onto your hard drive.

I will say that it did take a long time for Kelly's CD to "load" or whatever it needs to do to be recognized. I put it in and out of my drive a few times...and it was noisy in my drive. But eventually it copied fine.

Okay, I was burning as I was reading this, and decided to check that my CDs were okay. The ones I burned as as an MP3 disk weren't, so I've thrown those away.

I just burned one as a data disk, and it was better... At least I could see the files! But iTunes decided to put each file in folders based on artist and album. Is having to drill down two levels to get to the MP3 file going to be a headache for folks?

Would I be better off not going thru iTunes at all and just writing the files to CD with something like Windows Explorer? The only reason I'm using iTunes is to be able to print the playlist, but I'm not sure it's worth it.

Sorry for rambling. It's still early! My more technically-inclined DH will be up soon and maybe he'll have some ideas. but if you guys have any thoughts, let me know!

I find the best way is to use iTunes. Put all the songs you want to send in MP3 format in one playlist. Then check the Burn as MP3 in the Advanced Options box. Let them rip and send them out!... Don't forget to print a listing from your playlist. When you are done trash the playlist and enjoy life as you wait for your CD tree buds cd's to arrive.:rolleyes:

A real easy way to make an mp3 data disc....if you have Windows.

On your desktop, click "MY COMPUTER" (or find it under your Start button). Open this twice. In one of these windows, navigate to where your source mp3s are. In the other, navigate to your CD burner drive.

Copy the mp3 files (select them by clicking on each one you want to move and select Edit/Copy) from your source drive window. Switch to your CD burner window and paste them (Edit/Paste) there. Repeat as necessary. [Don't do CUT or it'll remove them from your hard drive)

When you have everything you want in your burner drive window, go under File and select "Write these files to CD". That should do it. It will not play in a stereo, but it will allow you to fill a CD with 100s of mp3 files.

Okay, so I got kzspins cd to work in my laptop. NOW..... how do I get the songs into my library? I use itunes - and forgive me - this computer and I have a serious love/hate relationship. I grew up with Macs so this Dell we have seems quite foreign. How do I get the MP3 files into my IPOD?????

Put the songs on your hard drive in a folder, call it something to know where to find it. Then open itunes up, go to 'file' (top left), then down to 'import', and it will open a small window for you to find where on your computer you have the songs. Then click 'open' and it will convert those songs in the folder into the AAC (apple) format and put them in your itunes library. Then you'll have the songs in BOTH places (in two different formats). If you use MM to mix your muisc they are already now in your hard drive and all you need to do is dump them (import) them into the MM catalog.

I've tried to play your CD several times. It keeps shutting down my windows media player and then I have to restart my computer. Dang, that music must be gooooooood! :D I'm waiting until my Computer Technician/Consultant comes home to see if it's a user error. :redface:

For the folks still having trouble (both in playing them and in importing to iTunes). Can you try copying a few to your hard drive and accessing them from there rather than the CD?

So Kelly, if yours is a data CD, I should be able to see the files in windows explorer, right? My computer knows theres 591 megabytes of *something* on the CD, but it won't tell me what it is.

I too shall ask my hubby about user error the next time we're both home and awake at the same time. Unfortunately, that's looking like it won't be until the weekend.

Kelly, your songs are being coverted to MP3 files in my itunes as we speak.

Make sure itunes is not open when you put Kelly's disc in. Once you put the disc in open it up and save the songs to a folder in your hard drive (just like Kelly instructed) then open up itunes, go to add new folder. Click on the folder that you put Kelly's songs in and then click open. It will then prompt that these are WMA formated songs and would you like itunes to covert them to MP3. Click yes and it will start adding the songs into your library while converting them.

Okay, so my plan was to get the cds out yesterday on the way home from the vet with my new puppy - But, she had an anaphylactic reaction to vaccines and ended up requiring major resusitation and on IV's. She is okay now (mommy is not ;) ). I got her home with me now, but she is requiring some TLC. So, my plan is to get them in the mail my next day off (Thurs), unless I can convince the hubby to do it for me. Sorry guys.... WAH!!!

Alright, I burned a CD for everyone today in MP3 format. My brain feels like it's going to explode. OH! I forgot to mention, the playlist that is on your CD covers' is not in order. Thank you Moonie. I've got to learn to stop and take a breather when things get so hectic! It turns out we're not leaving for Germany until the 10th of October, a week later than originally planned. I had to let all of the wonderful people who have offered to sub my classes that the dates hat changed. I hate putting people out like that! My four year old cut up my "Creative Coaching Certificate of Completion" yesterday. My daughter's hamster got out of her exercise ball this morning and I had spend about twenty minutes of my morning looking for her. I haven't been able to spend any quality time with any of my family members because we're all so busy; and when we do finally catch up with each other in the evening, I'm so exhausted and grouchy that no one wants to be with me. :( I really need a vacation.

Instead, the most awful sounding heavy metal/death metal/black metal what ever you call it starts pounding out of the headphones and I couldn't believe it! I'm thinking, how can a person who seems so serene be listening to this kind of music?! So I took it out and put Shannon's in to give it a listen. The same horrid music is pouring through the headphones and of course, at that point, I realized I placed the CD's on top of one of my 19 year old son's horrid CD's. I was so relieved!!! WHEW!! I was a little worried that I sent the wrong cd. Good luck with your son--my hubby still hasn't outgrown the horrid metal stuff in fact it seems to get worse the older he gets, or maybe he's just playing it louder cuz he's getting deafer. He doesn't do yoga.... now maybe if he did....

I honestly was a bit worried. My stuff is not very traditional for the Spin room. I tend to like stuff that's a bit slower for gettin' into the zone, like "The Hop". I'm so thrilled that you like it.
I also love "Ces Soirees La". It's so much fun! All of the American remakes came off of a CD called "Putomayo Presents - Cover the World". I love Putomayo. I've used so much of it over the last couple of years. Thanks for the great compliment, Steve. I love your CD, too. I used several songs off of it for my Wednesday Interval class and totally rocked the house!

This is the BEST CD TREE EVER!!!! I have close to the same feeling as when I came home from the WSSC. I'm so motivated because I'm practically drowning in music to choose from. I would reccomend a CD tree with this group to anyone but especially someone in a rut or afraid to go out of their comfort zone. I played my very first mashup today(I swore I never would because I'd never heard one I liked) and I played two rockers (what I would consider rockers is certainly not what others would consider them to be. I have soft taste). My point is, me and my riders were in heaven for the last three classes because of the variety of music. Thanks again, everyone.

17 of the songs on your disc won't play on my computer because my computer is not authorized to play them? Do you know what I am doing wrong? It is asking me for a password on itunes. Thanks! I love the rest of what I'm hearing!

Maybe I'll try that since it was not responding to the four letter words I've been screaming at it...... I took a break to see if I could think of any other ways to get the music to play..... in the few minutes I was away my puppy pulled down the earbuds connected to my ipod and chewed them to shreds. Today is not my day. :mad:

Oh and I forgot to mention.... I was so excited about all this new music and the gym I work at CUT one of my two classes/week from the schedule due to budget cuts - WAH!!!!!!!!!

At least all this music provides great inspiration for marathon training! LOVING IT! There have been a couple "un-edited songs" that have almost made me fall off the treadmill I was laughing so hard.

What do I do now? I'm finally loading the music on the harddrive and I can't load any of Luv2Ride28's music. HELP! Do I load this into ITUNES then import from there?
