Way to go Alice! The STAR 3 exam is mostly periodization, study accordingly.

Alice:
Are you going to attend Spintensity before you take the STAR 3? I took STAR 2 earlier this year thought Spintensity would help me prep for STAR 3.
I am curious what your thoughts are on preparing for STAR 3? Let me know when you have time. K

Alice:
Congratulations on passing STAR 2. I did not mean to overlook that accomplishment while asking about STAR 3. I think it is great you are working toward a higher level of knowledge.
Are you taking Spintensity in Kent, Ohio in October?
If so, I do believe that is the session Like2Bike aka Lori, from here at Innercycling and I will be attending as well. I want to take it before I plunge in to STAR 3.
Once again, let me know when you have time. It would be great to put another forum name and face together. K

KAT I was going to ask Alice the same thing---that would be very cool if we can all three meet at Spintensity!
Alice, congrats on passing your STAR 2 and here's to hoping you, KAT, me and my DH can take Spintensity together Oct. 21st at Kent State! :)

You can bet on it! It will be like a mini WSSC (LOL!) Me, my DH and one of my dearest friends (also a spinning instructor) will be attending. So along with KAT and Alice, there will be five of us! Can't wait to hear who the MI is! Should be a blast! :)

You never know who may show up. I may, depending on my hockey coaching schedule.

The more the merrier, Raff, we would love to see you there. It would be great to "meet" you face-to-face as well.

Ralf I was wondering if you might make it up. Let me tell you, you and my DH could have a contest as to who sweats the most. We could put a bucket beneath each of you and at the end, see who collected the most sweat. I'm telling you he FLOODS the room when he spins! It's a beautiful thing! :D

I had to get a mop and bucket once.
I once lost five pounds during a 40 minute class (Yes, I weigh myself before and after to determine how much water to replace).

That's a great idea. I'm going to try this with DH next time. I don't think he drinks enough water to replenish the massive amount of fluids he loses in class. How do you determine what 5 pounds of fluid as translated on a scale equals in fluid ounces?

I replace 16 oz of water for each pound I lost during exercise.
If you wanted to get technical, a gallon weighs about 8.34 pounds and therefore you would need to replace 5/8.34 gallons. That equates to 76.74 ounces of fluid (128 oz X 5 lbs/8.34 lbs). So on the days where I sweat out 5 pounds, I'm pretty close to the percise calculation by drinking five 16 oz glasses of water (5*16=80).
