"It's hard body time! 1,2,3, WOOF!"
check out this thing about when OCD gets its workout at the gym.

See, I'd don't find any of this so weird.
Obviously, for a newsporthy article, the author chose extreme-type behaviour because it's good for a laugh but, you know what, being able to commit to and focus on a workout plan/training ritual is a mild form of OCD-ness....at least as far as most of the population is concerned.
I'm really disciplined about my weight training (I have to be because I don't care for it that much) and I always start my w/o around 6 am to be done by 7 am. If something gets in my way, I find I can't do the same thing later on, regardless of how much time I have available.
Seems to me there's a very fine line between "disciplined" and "inflexible"

VivienneI'm the same way, with my training and my eating. I feel like if I can set down a routine, I can get anything done.

One of my weight room pet peeves is when I lie down supine on a bench and look up and I am not lined up with horizontal lines in the ceiling, I have to make my bench crooked so I can look up and be even with the lines on the ceiling. I garner quite a few raised eyebrows! But I don't think I'm really OCD about it. Do you think I am?

OMG, Kel, I thought I was the only one! Last night, before class, I was lining all the bikes up with the front of the mats. For some reason, they were all askew. No way I could have taught with the mats all crazy!

Agreed. We as a species NEED people with OCD amongst us. And IMO it is a spectrum on which most of us (in fitness) will find ourselves. It has helped to advance us in the race to survive. Whether I needed bridgework or brain surgery, I would want my doctor to possess some good OCD qualities. Oh, and my housepainter. And my tax guy. And just about anyone for which whose services I have to pay.

I have OCD about making sure my students bikes are set up properly. But that's totally a good one to have. I find myself constantly going on the same treadmill when I run. I am one of those people that has to be on a certain treadmill or I won't have a good run. Oh well, I guess I too have gym OCD!

I always ride the same bike at the gym, theres plenty there (35) and they're all new NXT's, but #11 is M-I-N-E i tell you...MINE!
She runs smooth, and reacts to my touch like no other, we share special moments three times a week. I come to class early to have a few private moments with her, but my shrink says that our relationship is unhealthy.

Ahh...but has your shrink ever gone to a Spinning class? I suspect he'd change his tune if he did. He'd end up being like so many of us...having a special affection for our favorite bike.

Wait a minute, wait, I ride #11. I swear, I go in 30 minutes early so I
can snag #11. I know there are no dead spots, worn threads, rusted wheels. The bike is mine, but in a differnt gym

Sure she's in a different gym  :D
I believe it's quite evident that number 11 gives out plenty of enjoyable rides to unsuspecting...men (who apparently live in the fantasy that they are the only one who ride her) :p

Actually I even put together #11, she has the seat and post from #9, and the bars from #13!

Acutally I clean off my bike for a woman in the next class, about 4'9" who likes #11 and where I set it up. (Being about 15" taller than her I suspect she adjusts it) Geez, I hope she don't abuse MY bike. Like it's mine right? What fantasy, I'll share my bike! ;-) Just don't mess with it. Ain't a male thang at all for sure
