Yeah there are a lot of places that make up good velo towns but we are on a mission to get Platinum standard which would be the first in the nation to do so.I think we need a few more rules to really get this thing up and running. Seattle is feeling our plight with a cyclist that was also killed at a light by a Large truck that could not see him and his friend. We need better rules at lights.

Still a hindrance. I sometimes volunteer for the Providence Health Organization selling and sizing helmets for just 5 dollars and it is truly amazing to see how many kids finally get one after learning how to ride. I see a lot of messenger types looking to become donors. When wrecked they put the mess in messenger

Sacramento is like Portland in this respect, although smaller, it has bike lines on all the major streets in the downtown area. They even have a group of cops on bikes to patrol the bike lanes for motorist violations. There are also a lot of bike shops and bike paths/parks along both the rivers in town. The city of Davis, which is a college town, is another bike haven.

Generally college towns are. even around community colleges the bike commuter is a competitor of traffic. Eugene is another close to platnum standard city in the US now if we can just connect the dots!
