I had planned on going, but was thinking it was next weekend. I'm glad I saw your email! I will have to check with my DH and see what the plans are. I hope I can make it!

I will see what I can do! ;) I spent two days at workshops a few weeks ago, and am going to the CylceOps cert. in December, so I am hesitating only because I feel like I haven't been around much on the weekends lately. Where do you live? How far is the trip for you? I would love to meet you in person!:)

Let us know how this goes.
Based on the e-mails we've traded over the years, she's heavily slanted towards the Maffetone school.
This may be like the Spinning presenter equivalent of Al Gore doing a speech on how we need to build more coal fired power plants.

Sunny is a wealth of information. I took a workshop with her last month on heart rate games and profile designs and loved it. I believe in the training philosophies that she is so passionate about, which is probably why I loved the workshop so much. I am very interested to find out what she will have to say in this particular workshop on high intensity training.
Funny you mention Maffetone- I am actually reading one of his books right now that Sunny mentioned. I am also in the middle of Slow Burn, which I can't stop reading- what an amazing journey by Stu Mittleman.

Krista I'm from Pittsburgh--it's only about an hour and a half drive to Y-town so it's not a far drive for us. Would love to meet you too but I definitely understand about being away too much lately. I hope you can make it, but if not, we will meet up another time--not that far away! Keep me posted...:)

I plan on bringing my laptop and typing as she talks. I don't want to miss anything.

Who authored the "High Intensity Workshop". Was that Angie's parting gift to MDA? Regardless I know Sunny will do an excellent job.
To those of you who are attending the workshop - please tell Sunny Cheeze says Hi.
Krista Slow Burn is a good read. Also enjoy your early Cycle-Ops Christmas present. As you guys take your Cycle Ops certs - please let us (me) know what you think!!!

Youngstown...isn't that a Springsteen song? :D Have fun at the workshop folks. Can't wait to hear what you have to say and to see the pictures.

Lori- what a great idea about the laptop.
What if I lug in my big tower, keyboard, and flatscreen? Would that make me look like too much of nerd?

I think you'd end up looking like a body builder after lugging all that around. I was at a 4-day conference for work last month and I rented a laptop to use because one day was hands-on seminar. I also used it to take notes in the other sessions and it was great. Made me wish I was in college again. All we had back then to take notes with was a pen and paper.
Another cool thing was that the hotel where the conference was held was completely wi-fi in all the conference rooms, so if the speaker was a yawn, I could surf the net or check my email.

Enjoy the workshop, everyone. I took it recently with Iona Passik. Very interesting class and a great ride at the end.

CORRECTION Cheeze's previous post incorrectly listed the author of the "High Intensity Workshop" as Angie. The correct author of the workshop is JFK.
Giving credit where credit is due!!!

Man oh man what a BLAST!
Had to privilege of meeting up with Ms. Danielle and Ms. Sunny (this is "southern" speak, we learned) and dining with the two lovely ladies (me, my DH Bill, and my dear friend Stacey) this past Saturday evening. Having these two amazing women seated next to one another in the same room, well, you can just FEEL the wattage! :D It's clear they have a tremendous friendship -- their mutual love and respect of one another was most evident and simply a pleasure to see. Danielle has to be one of the funniest (and most fun) people I've known in a long time. Talented AND witty--what a package (not to mention honest, caring, and wicked smart).
The workshop was jammed with information. I only wish we could have had more time and it flew by so fast because it was incredibly interesting. Sunny Davis is an inspiration and a dynamic athlete. She is modest, humble, yet firm and confident in her approach and demeanor. Her smile is warm, her words true, and her expertise and wisdom are priceless. Her life story, well, we only got bits and pieces on Saturday evening but let me tell you this gal has a helluva story to tell. If we're lucky, maybe she'll write a book someday. :)
We also had the privilege of meeting Kristin (Swiss Miss on our forum). What a DOLL! We connected instantly with her, and let me tell you she knows her stuff. I could have talked to her for hours too, but alas, the time was too short! :(
I left there with thoughts of realizing how fortunate I was, to meet people like these and have them in my life. SUCH good people. And there are so many more of you I hope to someday meet as well.
If you ever get the chance to take a workshop with Sunny, DO IT!

So, where are the pictures?

We didn't have time to take pictures because we were too busy trying to figure out how to get into the building. The place we went to was the most bizarre building- like the Bermuda Triangle of recreation centers.

Good lord it truly was! We learned later that it was once three separate buildings that were linked up into one.

By the way Lori, very well said! You are so good with words.
Listening to Sunny talk is like listening to stand up comedy and a motivational seminar all rolled into one. I don't even think she knows how funny she is. I love going to her workshops because I always take away so much more than just "heart rate" knowledge. Her communication style and presentation skills are so effective, yet she continually strives to improve. She emphasizes the importance of self critique and using constructive critiscm (from others) to our advantage. We can't grow if we don't know...
Lori, it was awesome meeting you in person! :) If you lived closer I know we would hang out all the time. Too bad the time sent so fast. Next time, I will hopefully be able to go out with you the night before, rather than an event with a martini bar. Besides which, drinking multiple chocolate martinis the night before a workshop is never smart and not something I will do again. Enough said.

Ahhhhh, but I'll bet they tasted good and went down the hatch like water! And heck, it seemed like a good idea at the time, right? ;) I'd love it if next time you came out with out us the evening before--and believe me, there WILL be a next time! :)

Lore,
It good to have a healthy sense of self. There's a fine line between not taking yourself too seriously and putting yourself down.
Not taking yourself too seriously is your job, putting you down is everyone else's job. :D

My favorite version of the above (seen on someone's internet sig long ago): never underestimate yourself, that's your boss's job.
btw, the post that I deleted a few back had nothing to do with this discussion. I posted my bum CD thread in the wrong spot . Ms. Lori knows how much I adore her and there is nothing more to say about that.

I didn't-just wasn't sure if anyone else did.
