Does anyone know if there is a way to transfer your itunes from one computer to another? My computer was taken and now I am using an old one with no access to my itunes library. I'm teaching classes using old cd's and it's not the end of the world, but I would like to get all of my music back.
Oh and the same question for mixmeister too.
Thanks!

Not sure what the issue is, but, I this is my third 'puter and what I did last time was to transfer my files to a jump or thimb drive which plugs into a USB port, move the files over and plant them into the new file I wanted. From CD I might open & copy them to your store file/ spin music whatever.
Jump drives are cheap, sometimes

1. You have access to the old PC?
2. If you do, what's the size of the files in total?
3. If you have no access to the files, are the existing files on your Ipod?
4. DVD-writer or just CD-r?
5. As the other guy pondered, you own a flash drive or other type of storage device?
You can write the files onto a CD, DVD or transfer onto a storage device and import them into the new PC's ITunes library.
There is also freeware to install that will transfer the music from your IPod onto the new PC.

The library is roughly 3500 songs (my ipod has about 1000 of those) so my best bet is to get a usb port or dvd and transfer the songs onto that and then bring them into my new computer. The obstacle is going to be getting access to my old computer. Let's hope for the best, thanks guys! :)

Song Capacity Matrix
Capacity # of Songs
128 MB 32 Songs
256 MB 64 Songs
512 MB 128 Songs
700 MB 175 Songs
1.5 GB 375 Songs
10 GB 2,500 Songs
15 GB 3,750 Songs
20 GB 5,000 Songs
30 GB 7,500 Songs
40 GB 10,000 Songs
60 GB 15,000 Songs
120 GB 30,000 Songs
*Based on an average of 4MB per song.
Example = 128MB / 4 = 32
This will help you decide how to transfer the songs. If you have a DVD burner, you can fit 4.7 Gig on 1 DVD disc. Otherwise, you'll need a storage device that holds at least 10 Gig. to transfer the balance, or 15 gig including what you alreay have on your Ipod.

Moon,
This is kinda' redundant,but....
Invest in a USB Hard drive and keep your music there and be sure to back it up somewhere else as well. transfer or copy the music file to the USB drive and keep your music there. This way you can just plug and play it in whichever computer you have access to. I use my USB drive on 3 different computers so I always have access to my music files.
