There are two events coming up in January close to me and I wanted to ask the list for advice.
1. High intensity training
2. Creative coaching
I really can afford to take one, but which would you recommend. I've been teaching since May this year, classes have filled to capacity and I'm teaching 7 a week, I really wish I could get some RPE coaching input rather than high intensity. Any thoughts?

I would go for number 2 based on my experience with #1...

I liked HIT but I had Sunny Davis for an M.I. I think it depends on who the M.I. will be--or are they taking place the same day (and therefore the same M.I. will be teaching them). Sunny Davis used RPE when she taught the HIT.

In which of these to areas do you need the most work?

I've been in a battle to erase the number system that was used for years by the instructors I replaced. Half my riders are from that period and they count on them like a crutch. As I mentioned, I've only been teaching since May and don't even know if I'm doing it right anymore. Orentation seems like a lifetime ago. So I think a clearer understanding of RPE coaching would make me feel more comfortable. But since I don't really know what HIT involves I am just hesitant to go with it. Both events are separate venues and it looks like WSCC is not going to happen for me this year.:(

Of the two, I've only taken the HIT class. I thoroughly enjoyed the HIT class. I definitely got a lot out of it. The instructor was Iona Passik and there were only two students in the class, so we had her full attention. It was a great experience. I don't remember talking much about RPE, though that might have just been Iona's spin on the class. (pun definitely intended :) )
Since I've not taken the coaching class, I can only guess at its format. From the description it looks like it's fairly open to questions from students. I think that might be a very good place to ask for more in depth understanding of coaching RPE.
Cheers,
John
