I am thinking about making the jump from PC to MAC. I love my Mixmeister so I checked out their website to see when they were going to make a Mac version. I found this message on their website. Maybe in the future we can use MM w/Mac, I would upgrade to Studio or Fusion.

We are about to release a Macintosh version of MixMeister Fusion and Studio. We could use your help to find the last remaining bugs so we can fix them.
Interested? Please send an email to support1@mixmeister.com (support1@mixmeister.com) and ask to join the Mac beta program. You'll need am Intel or PowerPC Mac running OS 10.4 or above. We recommend a 1.6GHz processor and 1GB of RAM.
We'll be doing our testing during most of December.
Thanks for your support.

Thanks Shannon, I've just sent them an email. I'll keep folks posted.
On the Mac side, though, there are a couple of applications that are already out the pretty much do the same thing: Audacity (which is a free open-source audio application) and DiscoXT, which also runs on the PC platform.

We can be lost together, I'm already feeling trepidatous. My dh is really excited for me and is researching the "parallels" program as well.

i'm trying to go cold turkey ... no windows emulators ... just leopard :o
I'm still keeping my PC, but trying to learn this environment. I'm so conflicted, lol ... i don't know which side i should be on during those very clever Mac/PC commercials :D

With the MM memo about trying to come up with a program maybe in 2008 I'll own a Mac and upgrade to Fusion or Studio. If not I'm ok with getting a little help with a emulators. :D

Once you both get used to the Mac, you will be just fine. It's actually much more intuitive (IMHO) than the PC (although the PC has its advantages as well). I can never decide which I like better. If push came to shove I'd probably choose the Mac ...
You've got Bob and me as your Mac gurus. I think he and I give each other a run for who has been on Macs since the beginning of time, but we are here to help and encourage.
If it's any comfort, when I am on a PC, I can make it do what I want, but it takes decidedly more effort on my part. I'm sure if I used on daily I'd be more "fluent." So, that fluency will come with regular use. Certain things are quite consistent across applications on the Mac and once you discover them, life will feel a lot easier. :D

Not that I'm competitive or anything ;), but my first Mac was the 512K, it had a 512kb chip soldered to the mother board and it wrote to floppy discs, since it didn't have a hard drive.
You would have to insert the applications disc, launch the application and then juggle the application disc and the blank floppy back and forth as the computer read from the app disc and then wrote to the floppy. It's amazing to think we got work done on deadline. A historical note: Microsoft Excel was originally developed for the 512k
I now use a Mac and a PC at work and feel I can use either, depending on what needs to be done, but I prefer my Mac. The OS is much more stable and the interface is still light years ahead of Microsoft.
We had one of the original Apple IIs and some subsequent, pre-Mac models, followed by the original mac (with one floppy drive, ugh) followed by the "fat mac" that had two floppy drives and I think was the 512 k model (it may even still be in my basement, along with the original 20 meg external hard drive I bought).
And my brother was the "quack" sound on systems 7, 8 and 9. But I'm not competitive, either.

Megs,
MixMeister has changed their production line. They now have Express, Studio, Fusion and Fusion + Video.

Quick update:
Bad news for me.
1) They don't seem to support AAC yet. (ALL of my nearly 11K songs in Itunes are in AAC).
2) It requires 1GB of RAM... I have a older mac with only 512MB...
I will be upgrading RAM in the near future so that would be all set but I don't want to convert my music to MP3, it's just a personal preference I guess...
If you have an MM version already running on a PC, the upgrade price will be lower. I have Express 5 so it would be $129 for me...
I don't know... I may hold out for a little longer and continue working with 2 machines until they come up with more MAC friendly features or an update.
Bummer...

Megs,
MixMeister has changed their production line. They now have Express, Studio, Fusion and Fusion + Video. Thats right! I still use pro 6 and I have a copy of express six just to make it easy to convert mine to ipod or mp3 player out put. But I hear that they are really gouging the price for a basic copy for Mac any truth to that? One more thing if you buy a copy for mac will it still work on PC (I hear if you buy one the other comes along with it any truth there?)
Meg
I'm not a Mac I'm a Peterbuilt!

The difference between the Mac and PC is they don't make the Express version for the Mac (which is$50); you have to buy the Studio version ($170) or the Fusion version ($300). I don't know if you get both versions when you make a purchase. Shannon and I thinking of splitting the cost of the Studio version when she buys her Mac laptop, so we'll find out then.

So will the interface between the Mac and PC using MM be the same? will they have the same commands and window views? Also will the one native file be able to be read by the other? Will PC and Mac talk? I have SONY ACID which has a lot of sound effects and mechanical enhancements that parallel MM and can be switched out in the pro version I wonder if that is going to be native to this aplication also.

I finally got an email from MixMeister about beta testing their Macintosh application. I'll keep everyone posted about how the process goes, as much as I can, since there is some confidentiality issues.

thanks everyone!! My house will most likely go to the Mac in the next 2 years. My DH's laptop went down about 2 months ago and was replaced with an ibook. I work on a HP laptop that is quit a workhorse, but if it goes down I will be replacing it with a Mac. All my music is on an external hard drive so as long as I can plug and play life is good.(I can learn to live with garage if I have to) above and beyond that office for Mac is all I need.

Okie dokie... Thank you!
We're down to just one Windows machine in my house, only running because of MM... so time is running out for me, soon we'll all be on Macs.
