Saw the movie last night...disappointing. BUT - the audiobook is excellent and I highly recommend it to anyone who has to go on a long drive. The voice talent made this story crackle and pop with energy. The novel is a fun read too - airplane stuff, or escapism - perfect.

As for the film's shortcomings, it wasn't Nicole Kidman's fault, she was great. All the actors were great, actually. The visual quality and imagery were beautiful. The editing and directing were the problem - they chopped out much of the plot and put in too many special effects that did not drive the story. And the end - you'll feel like they just gave up and ended the movie before it actually got going. Lame-O.

Aw man. I wanted to see how they put the book to film. Darn. Kind of like Eragon - the movie fell flat but the book was excellent.
