January MP3 ONLY CD Tree - Long Live the CD Tree

HI All:

I would like to initiate the first CD Tree of 2008 with an MP3 only CD Tree limited to the 1st 10 people who sign up up after this email. With myself there will be 11 total.

This will be an MP3 only CD as it's getting too old typing in song names vs. having them load right up. If you don't know how to make MP3 CDs, it's very simple and I bet your F1 button can help you figure it out if you're smarter than a 5th Grader (per my 9 yr old niece).

Our international community is welcome to join and I will coordinate those mailings if necessary.

So if you are ready to share some new tunes for 2008, jump in.

I think the fastest way around that is to burn the Playlist to an audio format then rip the audio disk (not with I-tunes) to mp3's, then type in the song title/artist stuff. Then copy the mp3s to a CDR.

I have heard of converters out there, but my registry is already full of crap--who needs another program.

And by the way honey your cd's got to me at the exact time I needed them. I did not have my itunes available to me for about 8 weeks and so I was re-using cd's and getting tired of them. Then I out of the blue I got not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 cd's all audio cd's so I could play them in the gym! It was quite the gift and I never thanked you...so thank you!

Done! I gave you all 2 playlist's and then a bunch of mellow tunes. I'd put them in 3 seperate folders but I haven't learned how to do that yet. 1-15 is one ride and 16-32 is the second.

One note to all when burning your files in MP3 format. If you add anything purchased from Itunes to the list that requires your iTunes password to play it won’t work on the recipients end. If you are burning your master cd in iTunes it wont allow you to burn an mp3 of these songs anyway. You'll have to burn them to a regular music CD and then import them back at MP3s. One arrived yeterday and 10 of the songs can't be used. :(

I got my envelopes today, CD's burnt and labels are next--then to the Post office for me!

Mine are by the door to go to the PO in a hour. I put and extra cd in all of them... yeah I tend to recycle old rides, music and profiles I get from other CD trees and instructors in the hope that since I have stolen from them that others might also. One word of caution. When listening to the song BOMB be forewarned that the language is not usable at the Y. I missed that before I burned it. Enjoy!

I'm burning them now and will get them out on Tuesday, as tomorrow is a holiday and the PO won't be open. I haven't even had a chance to listen to what has been sent to me because I've been so busy choosing music for the tree. I didn't do only one hour of music this time. I just started picking songs until I ran out so hopefully everyone will find one or two songs they can use.
There's a song on my CD that isn't an MP3 file. I'm sorry about that, I would have converted it if I had known. Anyway, I don't know if you'll be able to get it to play, everything else is fine. I wish I would have noticed before I burned all 13 disks; I would have started over. Oh well, live and learn.

You guys are worth it!!!:grin: I wasn't really complaining, I was just so shocked! I almost never go to the post office. In fact, the last time I went there was the last time I sent out CD's for the last CD tree. I usually send stuff out from my home, let my Postman do my dirty work.

Oh... and let me apoligize in advance for something. There are some songs that just say Track 1, Track 2, etc... I wanted to "Edit Tag" them, but the stupid program was taking forever; and I simply must start packing for Germany and getting all my ducks in a row. If I didn't just burn them as is I was afraid I was going to have to wait until I get back, over a month from now. That just wouldn't be right. Also, there's one song that isn't an MP3 file. I don't know what kind of file it is, but the name of the song is Tattle Tale by Guy Forsythe. IMHO, it's definitely worth the trouble to convert it. Sorry, I pulled it off of a CD my sister gave me.

I've finally got time to listen to some music from this lovely CD tree a couple of days ago and I already made a CD with music from Mr. Steve in New Jersey. ;) Thanks, Buddy! I haven't gotten to listen to everybody's just yet, but I am enjoying taking my time and knowing I have it to look forward to. Lori, I can't wait to listen to yours! I accidentally left it in my son's car and he's usually home when I'm asleep. I'll have to leave him a note so I can get it back! As soon as everyone's gets here I'm going to put it all on one or two MP3 CD's for our dear JRobertson. I find myself having to apologise for a song that "somehow" made it on the cd. After reviewing the music I sent, I was shocked to find that Blooghound Gang song there. Please don't hold it against me, Freudian slip I suppose. I'm enjoying all, but I now I have a serious problem. Because of this tree, I've officially outgrown My Ipod capacity. Let me take just a moment and thank Patrick also along with Lori & Steve who coached me thru this as well. Not having ever messed with mp3's I was reluctant at first but somehow figured out how to create and burn. Then the others began arriving and created another dilemma as there was another learning process to circumvene. Well every one so far I have been able to open, navigate, and create a ride just by looking at songs and artists that I was either a little or a lot familiar with. My early impression was this is more work than getting a CD and using it for a ride, however from a standard tree that only happened a couple times. So right now my assessment is the scales are balanced with the two types of tree's. More work greater reward or less time and less gain. Although if I can become a little more efficient with the computer all this music that we have gotten with these mp3's will keep me very very busy with the possible rides that can be created.

I am not sure that everyone knew that to get mine in to you and under the wire I had to use the internet and send individual sections of the whole to you via place to down load them from. Did everyone get them? should be 5 of 6 to this point and each under 100 megs large.

What is the opinion on the Death of seasons? I was going to use it, but then I googled the lyrics because I thought I heard something and there it was.

It wasn't absent, John. I'm not sure how you have your preference set up. That might be the problem. Go to User CP up there in the right corner of the screen & click on that. Click on Edit Options. The scroll down to where it says Default Thread Age Cut Off and make sure you have "Show All Threads" selected. Try that and see if you see a difference in how posts show up.
