a few months ago the export process from mixmeister to ipod started to really slow down on my pc. it now takes about 45 minutes for a 60 minute profile. have i grown impatient or is that a long time? how long does it take you guys? and even better, how can i rev-up the process...i'm revamping and creating lots of stuff, but it takes forever....any help, or suggestions?

also, i'm going to be using a laptop here shortly. this may be a dumb question, but i'm brave, so i'll ask....how do i transfer mixmeister from this pc to my laptop? do i have to pay and totally download another version? can i save it to disc and reload? are you laughing at me now????:o please send help i'm stranded!:pjmd

Jean, get ready for a totally useless post (but it won't stop me). I don't know the hows but I just got a new laptop and tech support (Mr. P), transferred MM onto it, without having to buy anything.

See Mr. P & I have an understanding: he puts dirty clothes into the magic hamper and they reappear clean & pressed. I tell him what I want my computer to do and he makes it do it. Neither of us want to know how the magic happens, we just want results.:D

I'm sure someone here will have answers for you, but if not, pm me and I'll put him on the case.

pink,
i thought we were the only house with a magic laundry chute? i love it! here's my problem...if i let my husband anywhere near my magic laptop and sees all the $$$ i have in songs, he'll realize how cost ineffective my little spinning habit is, and then i've got some 'splainin to do! i still have hope that someone can help me out there, it's just great to know i'm in such awesome company! thanks for hanging out inthe trenches with me, i'll pm you if i get desperate--:o

Jean I don't export to my iPod as the Pro version I have doesn't do that. I export to WMA files then import them into iTunes and convert to AAC or MP3 .. an hours class take about 10 mins to export. It sounds like your MM settings might need to be tweaked. Anyone have the same version as JMD?

I'm an extra stepper...burn..rip. Primarily it creates a back-up CD. In case of a PC crash...Ipod crash. I then delete the wma file to save space. When you save the mix in MM, it will pull it up again for export. Or I go to burn a CD...then rip back into ITunes and transfer it to the Ipod. Again...a few minutes and an extra step, but I'm paranoid about equipment crashes.

You won't have to re-purchase, but you will need to re-download it onto your new laptop. As long as you have the registration key from your original purchase, you should be fine.

Mine takes a long time to export as well. . .in fact, the whole process is cumbersome.
- Download to iTunes
- Burn to a CD
- Rip back into the hard drive
- Import into MM
- Create playlist (being sure to get the transitions JUUUUUUST right)
- Export the file back to iTunes
- Transfer to Nano

Except now it's all on one lump file. . . no options to edit on the fly. I don't much like that, but at least my musical transitions are smooth and I don't have to deal with a temperamental CD player.

Any possible way to streamline the process?

Because you're getting tunes from ITunes...nope. They only way to get music out of Itunes is to burn it to CD. Bastardos!!

If you used another service that just downloads mp3's, then yes. Import right into MM.

i just downloaded an updated express 6 version...it actually came to my attention via email alert, i'll see tonight if it's faster or slower! you know i love mixmeister because of the flow, it turns a ride into a seemless journey, wonderful! however, last night i was raising the volume on my ipod after 37 minutes into the ride, i accidently hit the wrong thing and the playlist began again at the warm-up:o i tried many feeble times to double click and find the exact place where i was in the profile, but you all know that's like finding a needle in the haystack, so i called it the "groundhog day ride" just when you thought it was half way over, it started over again. had to vent-;)jmd

First of all..gomusic.ru

If I see something on Itunes, I check if it's available, usually 2/3's of the time it is, and it's .19 vs. .99.

Secondly, Replay Music and Napster. If you haven't read how to do it, Replay is software that records from your sound card and converts to mp3. So, if you have unlimited downloads, you play it back and get the mp3 for nothing. This is the cheapest way to get hundreds/thousands of songs, almost 90% same as ITunes, for nothing...repeat, nothing. Did I mention you get them for nothing?

I read the post...what exactly does this software do?

fred

I've had the same thing happen to me before. It sort of makes your heart rate and perspiration level go up a few notches. What I do now is break up the 45 or 60 minute classes into quarters. I also, as a backup, always have a CD inserted in the CD player in case my IPod playlists get messed up.

fred, great insight! i may go to this idea of breaking the class into quarters for the hour. i try not to reburn stuff everytime just in case....to me i want to get away from burning and cds all together, less waste! thanks for the tip, it's a good one! jmd:)

I go through the same process that Steve does. I save all the songs separately but they play back with no pause between them. It ends up sounding the same...completely fluid. But, I'm able to recover from snafoos like hitting 'back'.

removes the write protection. Converts protected AAC to AAC so that you can convert them to MP3.:D

So...why would I worry about backing things up? Is this a thing that Apple will have me install an update and defeat any files I tampered with?

Just a precaution. Your converting files if something were to go wrong you want to be safe. I was able to convert 600+ songs.

Apple just updated last night to 7.6 and this program won't work with the update, but all converted mp3 are unaffected. so if you are still using itunes 7.5 this program will work. If you update to 7.6 the party is over for now. One of this guys will crack it again at some point. All my converted files are still good. I am still running 7.5 on another computer and was able to make the conversion no problem.
