Before I do it?!?!

Before I consolidate all my rogue music into the Itunes directory, is there anything I should know? Will my MP3's mutate and become MP4's or some other monster that will ruin my life beyond repair?

I've wondered the same thing but haven't dared consolidate my files to find out. I keep my non iTunes mp3s in a completely separate location. Though, one could argue that if you've made a connection between iTunes and an mp3 file, it shouldn't matter where the file is stored. If iTunes wants to do something to the file, it can do it as long as it knows where the file is.

I'm curious to know the answer.

All that happens is the location of the file is changed, not the file format
