What muscle is NOT used in the power phase of the pedal stroke:

psoas(?)
gastrocnemius(?)
quad (duh)
glutes(duh)

If I had to guess I'd pick gastrocnemius..just wanted to see what you guys thought.

Psoas is used in the "lifting" phase of the pedal stroke (they may call it unweighting). It's part of the "hip flexor" complex that lifts the leg into hip flexion which is what is happening as you bring your leg up the back of the pedal stroke.

There is an illustration in the SIM, although it's kind of hard to read, it's in appendix B3, if you want to check.

Just curious, I ordered the Star 2 about 3 weeks ago and it still did'nt come. Does it usually take that long?

Sandy I don't think they are going to send you anything. You need to go to your on-line account at spinning.com and log on. Then click on "Account Info" and look at "Online Courses and Exams" (in orange letters). Underneath that will be a hyperlink that says the same thing, "My Online Courses and Exams." Click on that and you will likely see your Star Level 2 Course there. Click on "View Course" and you can take the course online. Hope that helps!

Oh My God I'm such an idiot. Of course when I called MDA on Friday they could have told me that but they said all customer service reps were busy and she took my # to get back but never did. Thanks L2B I would have been in limboland forever.

I called them as well, about 5 times regarding something else. Seems they used that same excuse on me (all reps are busy blah blah blah), took down my number, and of course, never returned my call. What great customer service! Doncha just feel the love and like you really count?

Well took the exam and passed. But a few of my supposedly wrong answers were corrected in red by my same answer! What do you make of that?

Sounds like an online glitch, I'd call them and point the mistakes out.

I got a few "wrong" that were correct--I passed anyway.

I have called and e-mailed MDA recently and it is such a hassle waiting on hold for 20-30 min and I haven't received any e-mail responses to e-mails. I may drop them an e-mail, but I am not going to call.

THe good news is that you instantly get upgraded to star 2 on-line.

Sock drawer, far left corner. Next to the concert tickets you kept 8 years ago and the other brown sock your still looking for the match to.

If we get enough of them we can sew them all together and make a quilt and give it to the needy. Anybody willing to give theirs up?

Does anyone know if you can download the Star 2 exam in advance? I know I've seen the Star 3 either on this forum or the other one, but wasn't sure about star 2. I work better from a paper copy for some reason....force of habit, I suppose.

Thanks!

Traci,
You used to be able to download a PDF file of the test from the web site. The way things are over there now, who knows. I may have a copy I could email you, but it's a couple of years old and I don't know if it's the same test.

Lor,
I have it, but the version I have has a 2003 copyright on it. Is yours more current?

Lori....would you send me a copy of that as well.

I'm 3 credits shy. Hope to be there b4 WSSC.

Is this test as easy as the Certification Test or do I really have to know stuff? (lol)

If you have your manuel its not so hard. Some is common sense and the trickier stuff can be found. But even if you answer questions right they mark it wrong and then give you the right answer (same as you had)

The star 2 exams that are floating around are basically the same as the online test, but you can't just copy the answers. They switched (messed) up the a,b,c,d choices.

Here is my copy
