Do I need to convert the files in my Itunes that I get in Mp3 format to Aac from CD trees so they stay there and not dissapear when I try to load them into my ipod? So I'm adding files and then converting each one? Do I have this right? Thanks

Perhaps you are importing them into iTunes from the CD itself and it's looking for them on the CD drive after the CD has been removed?

You'll need to create a folder on your computer first and then import them from the folder into iTunes...no need to convert anything from MP3...

AAC sucks and I'd encourage everyone NOT to get them. I just deleted a whole bunch of songs that were AAC files which I can load into MixMeister from the last CD tree.

You'll get more songs on your iPod if you save them as AAC, as compared to MP3, because the AAC format has a higher compression rate. If the amount of songs on your iPod isn't critical, then MP3 is fine.

You can set your import preferences in iTunes to import in either MP3 or AAC, straight off the CD

This entirely depends on the software you use with your Itunes music... and the platform. I prefer AAC because I can fit more in my ipod (as mentioned by SpinBob) and it is easier to use with GarageBand and Toast... not everyone is on windows.

So Sandy, either way, just make sure that you have a folder in your computer with the music residing in it... you will only run into a problems if you get a "protected AAC" track and you don't have rights for it...
