I just finished reading a wonderful book entitled: "Pathways to Joy: The Master Vivekanada on the Four Yoga Paths to God", based on the works of Swami Vivekanada and edited by Dave DeLuca. When I picked the book up, it was required reading for my continuing education for my yoga certification. When I finished it, it was like I had been holding my breath. There is something in this book for everyone, regardless of your religious faith or whether or not yoga is part of your life -- don't let the title keep you from checking it out. Whether or not you practice yoga or meditation, there is so much beauty in this book. It's a must read. Written in a format that is very easy to read and understand (not always the case with books on the eastern religions/philosophy).

Anyway, just wanted to share.. if anyone does read it, I'd love to know what you thought.

This is certainly nothing I'd check out on my own, so thanks for the guidance. If I get to it, I'll be sure to let you know what I think.

SG, I just checked the library system (for all of Montco), they don't have it. Did you get it from Borders/B&N, or did you have to order it on-line?

Thanks for the tip, it sounds cool and I know my sister would probably love it. Right now I'm reading Eat Pray Love and am loving it. Some people said they had a hard time getting through it but I'm devouring it.

I too thought it was about how much we love you! :)

I just picked up "No Country for old men." (not very uplifting but interesting)

Welllllll, we'll see. I used to run an on-line book club but then I bumped my head and stopped reading. I don't make resolutions but I promised someone close to me that I would try to read again...I am, but I'm not retaining a whole lot. But, this will add to my challenge and give me something to shoot for!

I was looking for something good to read and will pick this up this week, thanks for the suggestion.

Pink:

Amazon.com has it -- and for a lot cheaper than I paid :). I bought it from Yogafit as part of required reading in my continuing education. You can get a copy on Amazon for $10.00 or so.

Shannon, I gave up on it. I really wasn't getting a lot out of it. To me, it seemed like a 'chase' book with no meaning. Kind of like a movie full of action, but short on depth. Very unlike McCarthy's usual books, which are usually wonderful character studies. I picked up "Middlesex" by Jeffrey Eugenides. At 539 pages it's probably a little aggressive but we'll see.

I checked to see if the library had this but they didn't. I'll check out Amazon. Thanks!

I understand, it's been sitting on my nightstand for a couple of nights. I'm going to finish it but after I finish my new Oxygen magazine. It's definitely going to be a book that will occasionally be picked up, I'm not devouring it for sure. I started reading Middlesex years ago.....I stopped reading it, I just couldn't get into it. Maybe I should pick it up again, let me know how it's going.
