As a trip to the Theatre does not come often enough. Thought I would recommend Wicked. Took the family last night in Cleveland. Great performance, I would see it again. The web site has it in a half dozen more cities around the country this year. Cute story spun off from Wizard of Oz but really makes just a few references. Apologies if I missed an earlier critique, things happen pretty slow around these parts.

Would love to see this show, but I've heard I should skip the book. I bought my girlfriend several books for her birthday and Wicked was one of them. She is not really liking it. We have almost identical taste in books so if she doesn't like it I'm 99% sure I won't either. Has anyone read this and has a different opinion?

Saw the show with my daughter in September and then had to read the book because I enjoyed the show so much. Loved the book as well -- it's worth reading -- but it's really not the same as the show -- the show is only lightly based on the book.

Shannon, I'm not one to ask -- I disliked both the show & the book. But I know it's just me, as most people love both.

Chocolate and Vanilla, right Pinky-do? ;)
The show is great...the soundtrack is great. Idina Menzel won a Tony on the soundtrack. Kristen Cheneworth also is on the soundtrack and she is brilliant also.
I cannot imagine on what level one wouldn't enjoy this. It's consistantly the hardest ticket to get on Broadway...sellouts for months in advance.
