If you have any questions, feel free to ask. :) If you don't enjoy baking this recipe may seem like torture.

I was going to ask you to post this! YESSSSSSSSSSSsssssssssss....this looks as good as one of your profiles! Actually, it doesn't look all that torturous. On a cold, wintry day, it will be fun to bake these! Thanks so much Monica!

You sure do know how to deliver a compliment, L2B; thanks!
I feel the same way about the work involved. It's a true pleasure to bake these (my best friend is an instant mashed potatoes kind of gal, which is why she views this recipe as torture) and the smell of them baking brings about memories of my childhood. We lived in a house that had an oil furnace and my mother, a single mother, was terrified to use it for fear that she would blow up the house. So instead, she baked a lot during the winter so the oven would heat the house. The winters in Florida aren't harsh, nor are they long, so it was enough to do the trick. We would eat the fresh baked goodies, such as these muffins, with hot orange juice or hot apple cider for breakfast while mom preheated the oven for the next batch of muffins, banana bread, biscuits, etc... with our socks inside, getting all nice and toasty for our cold feet.

Such beautiful childhood memories...thank you for sharing. Your kids, I have no doubt, will also have many wonderful memories of a beautiful childhood growing up in yours and Claus's house! (the "monnie/claus hause!") LOL! :)
