I think I'm going to review every protein replacement out there! LOL I tried the new Kashi GoLean Chewy Peanut Butter and Chocolate. Looks like peanut butter flavored saw dust. Tastes like it too. Some day I'll find a protein bar that actually tastes good. I may try the Crunchy one tomorrow. I'm in it for the punishment.

Tonight is Muscle Milk Dark Chocolate protein mix with some frozen berries. Dinner is easier to give up than lunch or breakfast.

I love the Crunchy GoLean Chocolate and Peanut butter bar. Always have one at 7-11 after mountain biking. Even my 7 year old son gets it.

Let me know what you think.

Viv: Not really. If I work out as soon as I get home at night, it's 7:30-8pm before I'm eating dinner or if I wait until 8:30 after the Q-man's gone to bed, I can't really eat a full meal before working out. The Muscle Milk (or any meal replacement shake) is just an easy way to get the protein I need without eating a big piece of chicken late at night. I have GERD so eating anything past 7pm is asking for trouble.

Muscle Milk (Dark Chocolate) was surprisingly not icky. I made it with water last night but tonight I'm going to try it with skim milk. Hopefully it will be more shake-like.

The Kashi Rolls are pretty good, although the nuts on the outside can rip up your gums. My fav hands down, Balance Bar plain peanut butter, no chocolate!

As much as I like a nice piece of decent chocolate, I don't think I could choke down some of these choc. concoctions.

I use a post work out protein shake in the mornings. I use Jarrow's Formula Vanilla protein powder (Designer Whey also suits my palate but Muscle Tech is narrrrsty!!)....add fruit (apple cranberry is nice or those frozen fruit combos) and half soy milk/half water. It's quite pleasant if you don't have a really sweet tooth. Something to try.

I have to share my favorite protein shake, which I got from Dr. Oz's You on A Diet book- but I change up the fruit choices. I have one of these almost every morning and it is yummy!

1 scoop of protein power- I like chocolate favored soy powder.
1 tsp. psyllium husks (good for the colon!)
1/2 tbsp. flaxseed oil
1 cup water
1/2 ripe banana
1/2 cup frozen pineapple (you can use 1/4 cup blueberries, whatever you like)
I also like to add some ice b/c I like the texture better.

When I do use blueberries, I prefer vanilla powder- but the recipe above is so good if you have a sweet tooth because of the pineapple. Keeps me satisfied and gets me through a long workout.

Ditch the blender, buy a juicer. My morning juice:
Organic:
1/2 mango
1 pear
1cup strawberries
1 green apple
1 carrot
either nice hunk of pineapple,or lately half a papaya
1 scoop of Jay Robb's Vanilla egg protein
1/2 teaspoon of flaxseed
